A woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend with a sword during an argument, according to police in the state of Washington.
Clark County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) deputies were alerted to reports of an assault with a weapon at the Quality Inn Motel, at 7001 Northeast Highway 99 in Vancouver, just before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Fox 12.
When they arrived, police found a 53-year-old man who then told deputies that he had been stabbed by his girlfriend Tednisha Louise Lee-Dickson, 29.
The Sheriff's Office later told the network that Lee-Dickson was still at the motel when officers arrived and she was then arrested.
Police added the victim was taken to a nearby hospital so he could be treated for his injuries and that he is expected to survive, according to the network.
An investigation by the Major Crimes Unit found Lee-Dickson and the victim had gotten into an argument at the motel, where they lived.
Fox 12 reported police believe Lee-Dickson stabbed the victim in his side with the 4-foot-long broadsword.
The sword is said to have belonged to the victim, according to the network.
Lee-Dickson was booked into the Clark County Jail after she was charged with first-degree attempted murder and domestic violence.
Police have launched an investigation into the attack.
Newsweek has contacted the CCSO for comment.
According to the Washington State Legislature, attempted murder in the first degree is a Class A felony.
The Matto Law Firm said Class A felonies in Washington "are punishable by prison sentences which can include life as well as fines up to $50,000."
It added: "Felony crimes are further classified by their seriousness in a complicated system under Washington State sentencing guidelines.
"[Fifteen] seriousness levels exist from Level I to Level XV which carry corresponding sentencing ranges for each level.
"Furthermore, pre-sentencing reports are typically called for by judges which will be considered in sentencing.
"These reports will contain such information as criminal, family, and employment history, psychological assessments, statements from victims, and more."
In 2021, a man in New York was apprehended after his 35-year-old girlfriend Mindy Singer was stabbed to death with a 46-inch sword.
Suspect Peter Ikonomou, 37, had called 911 about a robbery in progress and police later arrived at the fourth-floor apartment and found Singer inside with multiple stab wounds.
After officers interviewed Ikonomou, they believed his story about a robbery was false and he was taken into custody and was charged with murder, assault, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
