The 11th installment of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's American Horror Story is almost at its end, bringing the New York City chapter to a close.
Given the newest season of the horror franchise is ending with its next two episodes, which air on Wednesday, fans may well be wondering what's to come next, if anything at all, and TV network FX has revealed its plans for the series.
Is 'American Horror Story' Season 12 Happening? FX Seals Show's Fate

Fans of the American Horror Story (AHS) universe will be happy to learn that FX has already renewed the show for a further two seasons.
In January 2020, the network announced that it had made the decision to renew the series for three seasons, meaning AHS will be returning for a 12th and 13th season.
In a statement released at the time, John Landgraf, chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, said the network was looking forward to working with Murphy and Falchuk for even longer.
"Ryan and Brad are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX's highest-rated series," Landgraf said in the statement.
"We are grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years.
"AHS has showcased a wealth of award-winning actors since day one, and we appreciate the contributions of everyone, including Ryan, Brad and fellow executive producers Tim Minear, James Wong, Alexis Martin Woodall and Bradley Buecker, the writers, directors, cast and crew for each new, unforgettable installment of American Horror Story."
As is typical of American Horror Story, the 12th season is expected to follow its own plot, separate from past seasons, and while it may see a number of alumni return to the cast, they are likely to be playing new characters as they have done in earlier installments.
Season 12, for example, saw alumni Billie Lourd, Denis O'Hare, Zachary Quinto, Patti LuPone and Isaac Powell return to the franchise, alongside Charlie Carver, Sandra Bernhard and Russell Tovey.
It has not yet been revealed who will be starring in the program for its 12th season, but fans should not expect to know until the very last minute. The cast of season 11 was revealed only on September 29, just over two weeks before AHS: NYC premiered on FX on October 19.
American Horror Story: NYC ends on Wednesday November 16, with the release of episodes 9 and 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX, and it will be streaming the next day on Hulu.
