American Horror Story will soon return for its 11th season, with fans of the series no doubt wondering which actors will return to the franchise.

Sarah Paulson has appeared in almost every season of the horror anthology series, first appearing in a guest role in Season 1, Murder House, and starring in each one since with the exception of Season 9, 1984.

Paulson last appeared in American Horror Story: Double Feature, the show's 10th season, where she played two roles: Mamie Eisenhower and Tuberculosis Karen.

It is not yet known if Paulson will star in Season 11, titled NYC, but the actor has spoken about the prospect of her returning to the franchise in the past.

In an interview with Variety in August, Paulson said she had taken a year off from acting, so it seems unlikely that she will be making an appearance in the new season of American Horror Story.

The American Crime Story star said that she felt it was time for others to appear in the show, though she would always be keen to return to the franchise.

"It's not that I'm not open to it. I'm always open to it, but I feel like I've been doing it for a long time, and people might start getting sick of me in that world," Paulson said.

"Let someone else scream and run and cry for a second. Other people can do that too! Also, my nervous system. There was a time when I was younger when I was like, 'I can do this all night. I love it!' Now I'm like, 'Momma's tired!'"

Paulson added that now she is "looking for new experiences" when it comes to the projects she chooses, and in order to do so she's even declined to appear in a number of projects that were offered to her during her break from acting.

"I've said no to some things, which is a wildly new thing. I think the shows are always extraordinarily well-crafted and things I've always been so proud to be part of. So, never say never, but I'm sort of in this new space of seeing what comes and not pre-planning, which is very unlike me! I'm not saying I'm comfortable there yet, but I'm experimenting," Paulson explained.

American Horror Story: NYC will not be devoid of any alum of the franchise, though, as Denise O'Hare, Zachary Quinto, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Isaac Powell and Patti Lupoe are all returning to the series for Season 11.

American Horror Story Season 11 premieres on FX on Wednesday, October 19 with its first two episodes at 10 p.m. ET, and it will be available to stream the next day on Hulu.
