Suspense-lovers nationwide binged The Watcher over the weekend, but the phenomenon's "utterly horrible" ending has left many feeling unsatisfied.
Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan co-created the gripping limited series, which just replaced another of the pair's shows, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, in Netflix's top spot.
The Watcher follows the story of a married couple, played by Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale, who move into their dream home in Westfield, New Jersey. But soon, they start receiving creepy letters from an anonymous stalker who's obsessed with the family's stunning new house.
Be warned: Spoilers ahead.

What's With the Ending?
In The Watcher, the terrorized family hires a private eye, Theodora (Noma Dumezweni), to help them solve the mystery. Terminally ill Theodora eventually claims that she was The Watcher all along, and that she was the home's former occupant who wanted to scare them away so that she could return.
Yet later on, viewers learn that the detective had fibbed in the interest of giving the family closure. The Watcher's true identity remains a mystery.
The series is based on the true story of the Broaddus family, who also never learned who was behind the threatening letters. Still, viewers are beyond "disappointed" in the way that the series wrapped up.
"The ending of the watcher might be hands down the worst ending to any piece of cinema I've ever had to see," Twitter user @UNKNOWNENTITY wrote. "All the directions they could've went and THAT is how they end it? Utterly horrible."
