A woman has shared how she was left batter and bruised after she was trampled by a horse—a day before she was due to wear a short bridesmaid's dress at a wedding.

Phillipa, who is from the U.K., shared a picture of her injured leg on Reddit's popular r/Wellthatsucks forum on Wednesday where it has received over 22,000 upvotes.

In the caption, she wrote: "I was run over, stood on, and dragged through the mud by a horse. I also am a bridesmaid in a short dress tomorrow."

While Phillipa's injury didn't happen while on horseback, statistics show that horse riding is actually one of the most dangerous hobbies.

In 2021, a study by academics at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley looked at U.S. horse riding injury statistics. It found that the risk of hospital admission from equestrian injuries is higher than it is for motorcycling, skiing and football.

The proportion of hospital admissions resulting from equestrian injuries was 3.5 times higher than for motorcycle riding, and when compared with hours of activity, horseback riding resulted in more hospital admissions than skiing.

Phillipa told Newsweek: "Two horses share the same field and I took the first horse out by himself, with hay and feed for the field. Then I went back and got the second horse to bring him out as well. When I opened the gate to the field he got a little over-excited, barged into me, and knocked me over."

As the horse rushed to get to the field, hay and feed, he stood on Phillipa and then dragged her along for a few meters while she was still clinging to his lead rope.

"Luckily I don't have any severe injuries, I was completely covered in mud and I just have some very bruised legs and feeling very sore," she said.

Phillipa's biggest concern though was that she had to wear a short bridesmaid dress the following day and didn't want her bruised legs to become the center of attention.

Luckily, the internet did what the internet does best and offered her a plethora of ideas and tips to hide her equine-inflicted bruises.

"Opaque nylons," said one commenter, while another wrote, "A full coverage foundation and color-correcting concealer will hide those bruises perfectly."

Others, of course, took the opportunity to make a few well-placed jokes. One wrote: "If you chop it off no one will notice the bruises, thank me later /s."

"I recommend putting a post-it note just above your knee that says 'I got run over by a horse,'" said another.

Luckily, Phillipa was able to get in touch with the wedding's makeup artist who said she would be able to cover the bruises with makeup. She also bought some tights to help complete the cover up.

"There were some really funny comments," Phillips said: "Amazing advice and commiseration. And then some really creepy comments which are common as a woman posting on Reddit."
