Britney Spears has deleted her Instagram account just hours after she posted a thank you to Elton John for their upcoming collaboration.

The 40-year-old has said she is "overwhelmed" as she prepares to end her six-year hiatus to release new music.

The track, titled "Hold Me Closer", includes an interpolation of the chorus from John's 1971 classic hit "Tiny Dancer" and is set for release on Friday, August 26.

The veteran musician surprised fans with a sneak peek of the single during an impromptu performance at a restaurant in Cannes, in the south of France, earlier this week.

Spears' work on the song will mark her first music release in six years and her first release since her court-appointed conservatorship was dissolved in November after 13 years.

In the now-deleted Instagram post, Spears wrote about visiting the U.K. to see Elton John and joked about inviting Queen Elizabeth.

"Since most say they are honored TO KNOW ME SO WELL and only want happiness for me you can bet your bottom dollar that THIS collaboration will heighten my year by joining your brilliant hands of play," she wrote.

Addressing John, Spears added: "How cool is it to be a background voice on YOUR song!!!"

In the comments, John replied: "More than a background singer darling. Can't wait for everyone to hear what we've been working on."

Although she deleted Instagram, the singer took to Twitter on Thursday night to discuss her feelings on the release.

"Okie dokie ... my first song in 6 years 🎶 !!!! It's pretty damn cool that I'm singing with one of the most classic men of our time ... @eltonofficial 🚀!!!! I'm kinda overwhelmed... it's a big deal to me !!! I'm meditating more 🧘🏼‍♀️ and learning my space is valuable and precious !!!," she began.

Spears went on to say that she is "learning everyday is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy," and that she "choose happiness today."

"I tell myself every day to let go of the hurt bitterness and try to forgive myself and others to what may have been hurtful," she added.

"I want to be fearless like when I was younger and not be so scared and fearful. I pray there actually is truth to the Holy Spirit and I hope that spirit is with my children as well !!! Yes ... I choose happiness and joy today ☀️ !!!"

"Hold Me Closer" will mark Spears' first single since 2016's "Slumber Party." As has been well-documented, the singer met her new husband while shooting the track's accompanying video.

Spears deleted her Instagram briefly in June, just days after her wedding to Sam Asghari.
