Britney Spears' Tucker Carlson Chat Resurfaces: 'Dumb Questions Even Then'

Tucker Carlson has been slammed for his line of questioning in a resurfaced interview with Britney Spears in 2003.

The then 21-year-old seemed to have no patience with Carlson's line of questioning in the CNN interview, especially when he quizzed her over her soda drinking preferences.

Spears was reportedly paid $8 million to star in ads for Pepsi in 2001, but Carlson was sceptical that she consumed their beverages at all.

"You worked with Pepsi for a long time. Candidly, between you and me, how much Pepsi do you think you drink on average day?" he asked.

"I really do like Pepsi," Spears asserted, as Carlson added, "what's your favorite kind of Pepsi?"

An incredulous Spears retorted: "My favourite kind of Pepsi? Pepsi's Pepsi," she said as she shook her head.

"Really? You don't drink diet Pepsi," Carlson continued, and Spears replied, "just regular Pepsi."

The awkward moment was posted by Twitter user popcultureangel (@lohanisgod), who captioned it "probably one of the most iconic Britney Spears moments of all time."

Whistleblower and activist Lindsey Boylan, who was the first woman to publicly accuse former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment, slammed the questions from Carlson, now a Fox News host.

"Lol. With the dumb questions even then," she replied to the video.

It was not the only controversial moment in the interview, as Carlson started the chat by showing the songstress a magazine cover where's she clutching her stomach under the caption "Britney's belly busting lunch".

"I guess my food must have been really good," she told him.

Spears recently celebrated the anniversary of being released from the 13-year conservatorship when her father Jamie Spears, and a lawyer had total control of the singer's life.

A court ordered the end of the conservatorship in 2021 and Spears has enjoyed her freedoms ever since, including publicly putting her family on blast and marrying long-time boyfriend, Sam Asghari.

The "Free Britney" movement helped bring the conservatorship to the world's attention.

She recently opened up about having an ATM card and withdrawing cash for herself for the first time in years.

Spears took to Instagram to described how finally having the chance to buy something was a "pretty big deal for me."

"Hopefully just a few can understand the belittling mortality waiting in line with a man always ahead of you ghosting you and purchasing things on your behalf... the significance of using your own two hands... SPEAKS VOLUMES," she wrote.

"My legs and hands were shaking for 15 minutes after I bought something. I'm not sure why. Honestly I don't know! How dare a state or nation of any sort grant any man or woman the right to use my possessions in my name."

Spears added: "If I was valued and respected, then my father would be locked up in two seconds! People say you will have to put up a lot of money and sue and sit for hours and not be able to use my feet again when I want to run outside, no thank you, to prove these allegations are true! I will never put up more money and to go to court to see if my dad gets prosecuted! I choose to smile and put it in my family's face until the day I die."
