A cat with two broken front paws has stolen the hearts of TikTok users after her owner shared a viral video of her wearing bright pink leg casts. The unlucky kitty named Jade lives with owner Karina who runs the TikTok account @pawpypals.
The TikTok video shared on February 13 has been watched over 1.3 million times. Jade is seen rolling around on the bed as she gets the hang of moving with two full leg casts.
Karina told Newsweek: "I was going to my mom's house with Jade—we always go and there's never been a problem—but this time, a man was coming down the stairs as we were going up and Jade freaked out and jumped off the open ledge in the hallway.
"I watched her jump out and land into the rocks. I ran out and found her around the corner crying. I noticed her paw wasn't straight so I knew she broke it"
After rushing Jade to the vet, an X-ray revealed that she had broken both paws. Since the accident, Karina has been posting frequent updates on her progress, with support growing from fans around the world. Updates on her Instagram account also show Jade resting up in her crate.
The ASPCA estimates that the average cost of caring for a cat in the first year can reach $1,904. However, Vice President of the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital in New York City, Dr. Louise Murray also warns that pet owners will likely incur at least one $2,000-$4,000 bill for emergency pet care at some point during their pet's life.
TikTok user dismaitickitytok commented: "Going through her 9 lives like she pays her vet bills!" While another user called maiapapaiyaa said: "Well if it isn't the consequences of my own actions. Poor kitty :("

It turns out Jade isn't the only cheeky kitty getting into trouble, with users sharing their stories of their cat's antics. TikTok user mellythemusician commented: "This happened to my cat too. I know EXACTLY what you're going through." User chanelleruss commented: "Showing this to my cat who did the same thing but somehow didn't break his legs."
The response online has given Karina the boost she needs while Jade recovers: "I've had a few videos go viral on TikTok before but never to this degree. The majority of the response has been very supportive, positive and sweet.
"It's really cool to see people so interested in seeing Jade and her progress and updates for her. I find it fun and it helps me to be less alone – plus lots of people offer great suggestions and tips!"
As Jade continues to recover, Karina plans on sharing her progress with her online following. "I've never felt so connected to so many people," said Karina.
