Normally it takes a pay-per-view deal to see the finest wrestling moves, but one cat brought the action up close and personal with an epic takedown of a much larger dog in a living room.
The viral video, which has been viewed more than 4.4 million times since it was uploaded to TikTok on December 3 by the Pittsburgh-based account @madimcdonald1010, showed viewers the impressive wrestling display.
In the short clip, an orange can be seen squaring up to a much larger black dog before it suddenly lunged for the neck and initiated a takedown.
Despite the dog's larger size, it went down on the carpet as the cat continued to maintain its hold. Unrelated commentary by the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) was added to the athletic display.
Several hashtags also referenced the wrestling industry, including the ongoing television program WWE SmackDown.
A January 2021 article published by the American Kennel Club (AKC) shared advice about how to improve a pet parent's chances of having their cats and dogs get along, which includes:
Giving the dog and cat time apart when one is first introduced and keeping them away from one another for a few days so they can get used to each other's sounds and smells is essential, the AKC says. Other tips include:
- Feeding them on opposite sides of the same door so they can start to feel safe around one another.
- Make proper introductions by keeping the meetings short and sweet and consider reserving a nice treat for these sessions so the pets can look forward to seeing one another.
- Training your dog to stay calm around your cat, such as having it sit or lie down when in the presence of the cat.
"If you take time with the introductions, train your dog to behave appropriately around your cat, and give your cat a dog-free area, your two pets should be able to co-exist. At the very least they'll live in harmony, but hopefully as best friends," the AKC added.
The hilarious video also received more than 1 million likes as of press time. Many who commented on the video were impressed by the cat's talent for wrestling with one comparing its skill to performers at WWE.
TikTok user Dr Pepper Barqs said: "Never underestimate an orange cat. I've got two."

CushdelaCush posted: "The technique, definitely been watching WWE while you're shopping."
