A Detroit man is facing murder charges after allegedly beating his roommate to death and leaving the body inside the home for days.
According to police, Corey Stacey Canty, 44, is facing charges of one count of premeditated first-degree murder.
Local news outlet WDIV reported that Detroit police were called to a home on Fairview Street in the east side of the city at about 1:40 p.m. on October 10. According to the report, officers found the body of 43-year-old John Boble.
Medical officials pronounced Boble dead at the scene and cited blunt force trauma as the cause of death. Boble's body had been left in the home for days before Detroit officers located it, according to WDIV.
Canty was arrested on October 10 and he was arraigned on October 12 in the 36th District Court, according to WDIV. A probable cause conference has been scheduled for October 26 and a preliminary examination has been slated for November 2.
Newsweek has reached out to the Detroit Police Department for comment.

According to the Associated Press, there were 309 recorded homicides in Detroit in 2021, compared to 323 in 2020.
Canty's arrest is the latest story of suspects being arrested for alleged violence toward their roommates.
In September, a woman in Florida allegedly stabbed her roommates until she believed they were dead. Marion County police said officers were alerted to reports of a stabbing from one of the victims.
The roommate claimed that 30-year-old Christina Adams had stabbed him and another roommate after they asked her to stop living with them.
Deputies later found Adams driving near the home and charged her with two counts of first-degree murder.
In April, a man in Michigan allegedly failed to report his roommate's death and lived with the corpse for a month.
Oakland County Sheriff's Office detectives said they apprehended Mark Alan Means, 58, after they located the body of Michael Leroy Wagner, 76, at the home in Caberfae Trail, near Detroit.
Following an autopsy, officials determined Wagner suffered from underlying medical conditions and that he had died of natural causes.
While officers ruled out foul play and ruled the death happened due to a fall in the bathtub, police did charge Means with obstructing/failure to report a crime on April 5.
In December, a Tennessee man was apprehended after the body of his roommate was found in a suitcase left close to a Memphis dumpster.
Julian Summers, 30, was charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse after the body of Bruce Jeffries, 63, was found in a suitcase on December 12.
