Donald Trump would "turn on everybody" if he is indicted, his niece Mary Trump has said.
Her comments come as speculation mounts that the former president could be indicted for his role in efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
If that happens, Trump would do everything he can to cast blame on everybody but himself, his niece said on an episode of The Thom Hartmann Program earlier this week.
"What should we expect if Donald Trump is indicted?" Hartmann asked Mary Trump.
"We should expect a full court press by him and everybody in his orbit," she replied. "To change the subject, muddy the waters, deflect, project, cast blame on everybody from the lowliest of White House aides on up."
Mary Trump, a psychologist who has written books about him and the Trump family, added that her uncle "will not take it lying down" and would recruit "everybody who continues to be a hanger-on to do his bidding."
She continued: "I mean, Donald didn't do this by himself. He was enabled at every turn from people in his inner circle, everybody in the executive branch, and almost the entirety of the Republican Party."
Hartmann then asked about who could face Trump's ire.
"Do you think he's going to be spraying his fire, as it were, at his enemies, or what he views as the people who might have thwarted his efforts?... Is he going to turn on the people who were with him, you know, the Jim Jordans and Marjorie Taylor Green's and whatnot, the people who essentially failed in pulling this thing off?"
Mary Trump replied: "I think he's going to turn on everybody. I think he's, as we've seen, his circle is getting smaller and smaller by the controversy. So I think there will be very few people left standing."
Trump could even turn on his eldest three children—Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump—because his relationships with them are "conditional" and "entirely transactional," according to Mary Trump.

She added that it would be "shocking and unconscionable" if Trump were not indicted based on what has so far been revealed during the House select committee's televised hearings about the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
"And we'll find out more," she said. But she added her uncle "probably doesn't think that anything is going to happen because nothing ever has.
"He's done terrible things for his entire life and not once has he been held accountable so there is no precedent for this."
Newsweek has contacted Donald Trump's spokeswoman and Mary Trump for comment.
