Donald Trump's Super Tuesday Message for Nikki Haley

Former President Donald Trump issued a message to presidential candidate Nikki Haley ahead of Super Tuesday, when voters from 16 states and territories will make their pick in the Republican primary.

Haley, the former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador, remains the only Republican challenging him. She hasn't posted any victories, and polls continue to show the former president leading in upcoming contests. Haley, however, has vowed to stay in the race through at least Super Tuesday on March 5, despite calls from some Trump-aligned conservatives for her to drop out.

Trump on Wednesday took to his social media platform Truth Social to taunt Haley.

"Haley got trounced last night, losing the Great State of Michigan by over 42 Points. Looking forward to Super Tuesday where she is doing even worse, if that's possible. I'm leading every State by over 60 Points! People don't like her, and they know, as per the polls, that she can't beat Biden, or any Democrat!" he wrote.

Newsweek reached out to Haley's campaign for comment via email.

Haley said during a CNN interview Tuesday evening that her campaign's goal is to be as "competitive as possible," stressing that only a "handful of states" have voted so far.

"I mean, look, I've said this before, as much as the media wants to jump ahead, we're taking this one state, one day, at a time," she said.

The following states and territories are set to vote on Super Tuesday: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and American Samoa.

The latest polls of Super Tuesday states show Trump poised for victories.

A Morning Consult poll conducted from January 23 to February 4 found Trump winning Alabama by 75 percentage points, California by 67 points, Massachusetts by 41, North Carolina by 54, Oklahoma by 77, Tennessee by 63, Texas by 69 and Virginia by 59.

Trump's remarks came after he secured a win in Michigan, which is also expected to be a battleground state in the November general election. Trump won the state in 2016 but lost it to President Joe Biden in 2020.

In November, Republicans are hoping backlash Biden has faced from some Arab American and progressive voters in the state over his stance on the war between Israel and Hamas could give them an opportunity to flip the state back into the GOP column.

On Tuesday, Trump received support from more than 68 percent of Michigan Republicans, while only 27 percent backed Haley.

Michigan's results are in line with other states that have delivered Trump double-digit wins. In South Carolina on Saturday, about 60 percent of Republicans voted for Trump to 40 percent for Haley. He won New Hampshire's primary by about 11 percentage points, and secured 51 percent support in Iowa's caucuses in January.
