Not only is Eminem a critically acclaimed rapper, but he's also a long-time fan of the Detroit Lions—and now he wants to play for the team in the hope he can lead them to victory.

The NFL team broke its 32-year playoff drought when it won against the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 on January 15 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Following this win, on January 21 the Lions will be playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional Round of the 2023-24 NFL playoffs. This means the Lions can now boast two home playoff games for the first time in franchise history.

The Buccaneers just won 32-9 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. The upcoming game will be a rematch of a Week Six meeting between the two teams at Raymond James Stadium.

In a video posted on Instagram, Eminem—real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III— pleaded for Lions coach Dan Campbell to let him join the team. "Coach Dan ... the offer still stands. I'm around for Sunday, lmk [let me know]..." he captioned the post.

Newsweek contacted the Detroit Lions and Eminem, through Universal Music, for comment via email on Wednesday.

"Yo, Dan, I'm reporting, I'm gonna report third quarter. I'm reporting offensive line, eligible receiver, I'll be the quarterback, the entire line, offensive line and the receiver," the rapper, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, said in the clip.

"And I'll throw it to myself and I will score a touchdown in the third quarter. Just give me a uniform or at least just like, a helmet. I already have a helmet, it's not the one for football, it's just a helmet but um, yeah man, I'm here bro! I'ma be there, I'ma be there that night, I will suit up and I will score us the winning touchdown in the third quarter, the winning touchdown."

People took to the comments to share their thoughts on his request.

"Imagine seeing Eminem out on the field in a bicycle helmet throwing himself a winning touchdown," one person wrote alongside a cry-laughing emoji.

"In other words - 'put me in coach,'" wrote another.

"Give this man a uniform!!! He even got a helmet," a third person wrote.

A fourth added: "I will be a Lions fan for a day, to see you play."

Others took the opportunity to request that he release new music.

"Yooo, Shady! I am reporting: we miss youuuu (talking about new album)," one Instagram user commented.

"Bro just drop the new album," said another.

Eminem has been spotted at various Lions games this season, and in years past, has taken his spot in the commentary booth.

Before they faced the Rams on January 15, the Lions had held the record for the longest streak without an NFL playoff win as they hadn't won a playoff game since January 1992. They also hadn't hosted a playoff game since they were defeated by the Green Bay Packers in January 1994.
