Jennifer Lopez Slammed Over New Video

Jennifer Lopez may still be "Jenny from the Block" despite her celebrity stardom, according to her 2002 hit of the same name, but a recent outing of the singer-actress in a fur coat has fans questioning her choices.

The chart-topper and movie star surprised drag queen Jo Lopez at The Abbey's Sunday Service drag brunch in West Hollywood this weekend.

A video of Jo Lopez entertaining a crowd appeared on X, formerly Twitter, with the performer turning to see her idol JLo in a fur coat behind her. As the clip continues, Jo Lopez stops performing and screams in excitement before hugging her hero, but multiple viewers have slammed the celebrity, believing her coat to be real fur.

Jo Lopez also shared the moment on Instagram via a series of images and the same video.

In the video and images, JLo can be seen looking glamorous in a fur coat, with social media users debating heavily as to whether it was real or faux and getting into online altercations over it.

A video shared on X by the account @MikeSington, with the caption: "Jennifer Lopez drag queen surprised by Jennifer Lopez, at The Abbey, West Hollywood California," has been viewed 7.9 million times by social media users when this article was published.

Not impressed, one onlooker commented: "Is Jennifer LOPEZ wearing a DEAD ANIMAL FUR COAT???? NOT COOL."

"Fur coats are back in style again?" was asked by a spectator.

"Love JLo but the fur coat is a big NO for me!", "Gross" and "Nice, except for the full length fur. Hoping it's not genuine" were among other remarks directed at the star.

Another said: "Lovely moment. Except for the fur coat (unless it's faux of course!)," which was met by a fashionista follower who said: "It's faux from her h&m collection."

Newsweek was unable to confirm if this was from a pre-existing clothing line of hers.

The "lovely moment" poster then replied to someone else's comment, having questioned their initial claims and said: "It could be faux. Not gonna be negative towards her without even knowing what's up."

An angered social media user who stated: "Shame on Jennifer Lopez for wearing a fur coat," was met with a fan adding: "Shame on you for being so stupid to think JLo would wear a real fur coat."

JLo had many come to her defense, with a fan commenting: "Jennifer Lopez wears fake faux according to numerous articles, including Peta. So yay for Jen, but a Nay for the girl who tried to defend wearing real fur," and another pointing out: "Oh please. JLo lives in LA where fur coat sales are banned. No one in Hollywood would be caught dead in a genuine fur coat."

Diehard JLo fanatics compared it to an outfit featured in one of her movies—Hustlers.

"IN THE FUR COAT FROM HUSTLERS??? B**** I WOULD EVAPORATE," a fan said.

A second spotted the movie outfit as well: "Isn't that the same fur coat from the scene in Hustlers when she's smoking on the strip club rooftop? Or am I tripping?"
