FBI: Most Wanted recently lost its lead character after Jess LaCroix actor Julian McMahon quit the CBS show to work on new projects. Following the character's exit, the whole team is grieving his death, but one character in particular is having a hard time.

That would be Sarah Allen (played by Jen Landon), who is losing her romantic partner. Fans, meanwhile, are concerned that the actor will leave the show – while the latest episode was airing, there was a huge spike in searches for "Is Jen Landon leaving FBI: Most Wanted?" on Google.

Luckily, the showrunner gave a number of interviews that reveal exactly what will happen to Allen's character now that she has had to say goodbye to Jess.

Per an interview between showrunner David Hudgins and GiveMeMyRemote.com, viewers are set to get at least a few more episodes of Sarah. In fact, the show has much more for her to do in upcoming episodes, where a key storyline will be looking at how she copes with his death.

Asked why the show decided to kill Jess in the way it did, he said: "Part of the reason that we as creators we chose this path was we were interested in exploring what happens when they lose Jess? What does that do to the team? What does that do to his family? So filtering through the next couple of episodes is grief and how Barnes [Roxy Sternberg] and Hana [Keisha Castle-Hughes] are dealing with it. How Kristin [Alexa Davalos] and Ortiz [Miguel Gomez] are dealing with it. How Sarah and Byron [Terry O'Quinn] are dealing with it."

Speaking to Variety, meanwhile, he confirmed: "Sarah and Byron are still around for a few more episodes as we sort of process Jess' exit."

What we do not know, however, is how many episodes a "few more" means, and what will happen to the character after that. Hudgins noted to TV Insider that there is a big shift in the story in the April 12 episode, with the show moving from grieving Jess to welcoming in Dylan McDermott as the new boss.

He said: "The next stretch of episodes is mostly about the upset in the dynamic, the processing of grief from the loss of Jess. And then once Dylan comes in, I think that's six episodes 'til the end of the season and we're building out an arc for his character and an arc for the team and the other characters that will hopefully all intersect by the time we get to the finale in [Episode 22]."

The writers, of course, could find a way to keep that character around – any character could develop a sudden desire to learn horseback riding – but also viewers should perhaps not be surprised if this marks the end of Landon's arc on the show. Those viewers, however, will still be able to watch her as Teeter when Yellowstone Season 5 comes out soon.

FBI: Most Wanted Season 3 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT on CBS.
