A video has gone viral on TikTok after a woman shared how she surprised her long-distance boyfriend at college.

TikToker @ellamonroe16, whose full name is Ella Monroe, posted the video late last month and it has since received over 26 million views.

In the video, Monroe is seen on a Facetime call with her boyfriend, Carson. The video is set to Ellie Goulding's song Still Falling for You so it's not clear what the couple is saying, but Monroe provided captions of how the conversation unfolded.

"Can you let me in," Monroe asks to which her confused boyfriend responds "what?"

"Let me in! It's pretty cold out here," she continued.

The boyfriend's eyes start to widen and he says again, "WHAT?"

"Can you let me in?? IM COLD," she wrote.

"You are not here...," he said.

She then flips the camera around to show the front door of a building and his face shifts and jaw starts to drop.

"HOW What?!" he says cracking a smile and looking around. Though the conversation seems to continue, the captions stop as the video ends.

Monroe told Newsweek in an email that she and her boyfriend, Carson have been together since their sophomore year of high school and in April will be celebrating three years together. She said the couple started doing long-distance after graduation as they both picked different colleges though both are located in Kentucky.

In December, Kavita Patel, a life and relationship coach, shared some tips for couples in long-distance relationships with Brides.

"Emotional connection and support are so important in a long-distance relationship," she told the outlet. "Keeping in touch and involving each other in daily feelings and situations is powerful to keep a feeling of intimacy flowing."

Patel said it's important to see each other in person as much as possible. Though the amount of distance between partners can sometimes make this challenging, she said seeing each other monthly is ideal with a goal of at least quarterly visits.

Monroe said though this was the first time she had surprised him, Carson had previously pulled off a surprise of his own.

"He has surprised me once before by claiming I had something urgent delivered to the front desk of my building," she told Newsweek. "When I came down to check, he was in the lobby."

Comments began to flood in under the viral video with some questioning the man's initial reaction.

"[W]ell is he going to let you in," one commenter wrote.

Monroe responded to the comment saying many others shared a similar sentiment.

"Obviously he did not want me standing out in the cold," she said.

"[H]e was surprised because I pulled off an amazing surprise, no one knew." she continued. "So, he just had to process it for a second."

Monroe told Newsweek she is "beyond surprised" at the attention her video has received and has loved reading all the comments.

"[B]ut especially those saying 'me and my partner did XX years of long distance and now we have been married for XX years,'" she said. "It is very encouraging as someone currently in a long-distance relationship because they too were in our position at one time."
