God of War Ragnarök has easily been one of the most anticipated games of the year. As a PlayStation exclusive, many have been curious about whether or not the much-acclaimed follow-up to God of War 2018 will be available on PlayStation Plus. Here's what you need to know.
When God of War Ragnarök releases on November 9, it will not be available on PlayStation Plus. Despite the recent changes made to PlayStation Plus, Sony has decided to forego the release of first-party titles like God of War Ragnarök on the subscription service.
However, that doesn't mean God of War fans looking forward to Ragnarök won't be able to check out the game on PlayStation Plus at all. While first-party games aren't released day and date on the subscription service, those subscribed to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus will be able to play an extended demo of new games when they release. PlayStation hasn't said how long that demo will be, but it should give fans a decent look at the upcoming sequel.

If you're itching to know more about God of War Ragnarök, you can read more about how Sony Santa Monica made Atreus feel honest and real, as well as learn more about why God of War 2018 and God of War Ragnarök aren't redemption stories, something the newest game's director wanted to make clear during an interview with Newsweek.
Further, you can check out Newsweek's preview of God of War Ragnarök, where gaming veteran Brittany Vincent breaks down what fans can expect from the upcoming title.
"Santa Monica Studio promises to wrap up God of War's Norse chapter with Ragnarök, and the opening hours show the promise of an epic adventure," Brittany said in her preview. "However, it feels like there's a lot of ground to cover before the credits roll, so it's hard to tell if it'll live up to the expectations set by its predecessor. From what we've seen so far, however, it looks like it'll more than meet this extremely high bar."
Of course, you'll be able to check out the game yourself once it arrives on November 9, and PlayStation fans sporting the highest tier of PlayStation Plus will even get to try out the demo, which should give them a taste of the journey to come. With such a long-standing character and history to explore, this next chapter of Kratos' journey is one that God of War fans won't want to miss.
