Ahead of the big game on Sunday, Fox News host Sean Hannity will interview President Donald Trump about the Super Bowl and the state of America.
The tradition of pregame Super Bowl coverage including an interview with presidents began in 2004 with President George W. Bush and it will be Trump's third time being interviewed before the big game. In 2018, he opted not to participate when the game was being broadcast by NBC.
Hannity's interview with the president will air on FOX around 3:30 p.m. ET, according to Fox News. The interview won't be conducted live but will be taped earlier in the week and show footage of Hannity's sit down with Trump at the White House, as reported by Adweek.
Viewers hoping to hear what Trump has to say can catch the interview during FOX's pregame coverage. FOX will air the programming live on television, as well as, through its FOX Sports application. Those who don't have a cable subscription are able to watch coverage live through the app, which is available for download on mobile devices and smart televisions, or the website by creating an account, according to Forbes.
Ahead of the interview, Hannity told Variety that, as the interviewer, he wanted to put himself in the position of a person sitting at home, "hanging out with friends and waiting for the game to start." His goal was to cover a number of relevant topics, including Trump's impeachment trial in the Senate, the economy and the recent death of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. Other, serious topics could include the U.S.'s relationship with North Korea and conflicts with Iran.
However, given the timing of the interview, he also told Variety that he wants to get Trump's opinion on the Super Bowl and his prediction about whether the Kansas City Chiefs or San Francisco 49ers will win.
"It's a nice, fun American day," Hannity told Variety. "What do you do on Super Bowl Sunday? I imagine you're with friends and family, and you are probably grilling, making chicken wings. You're making steaks, maybe grilling a little fish, smoking some barbecue ... [but] there are important issues in the news."
During Trump's 2019 pregame Super Bowl with CBS, he predicted the New England Patriots would win the game. He explained they have a "very special owner," referencing his friend Robert Kraft.
"It's a great chemistry on that team," Trump said. "A team needs chemistry and they certainly have it. So I think they'll do well, but we'll see what happens."
