Laughter Over Indoor Dog's Reaction to Being Adopted by 'Go-Outside' Humans

Most people associate dogs with the outdoors, which should come as no surprise given they are descendants of wolves, but one corgi named Eevee has shown viewers on TikTok that not every dog thrives outside.

Eevee was adopted by "go-outside humans," according to the TikTok video's text overlay. When she is forced to go outside for a walk, she uses all of her might to stand her ground. The face she gives with her tongue out is proof that she is serious, and that she wants to be a "stay-inside" dog and nothing more.

The video posted by @sohltrain on October 18 has a caption that reads, "There is nothing Eevee hates more than the gross outdoors." So far, the clip has been viewed more than 522,800 times with 77,700 likes and 137 comments.

TikTok users are flooding the comment section with their thoughts as many have experienced the same with their own dogs. "This is a big corgi mood. My teenage corgi, Mr. Nibbles, would need to be picked up mid-walk. I've seen corgi carts too," wrote @charlotte.brye.

Another TikTok user added: "One of my dogs is 100% an inside dog and the other is a 100% outside dog. And they're upset whether I stay in or go out."

A pet behaviorist and training expert previously told Newsweek that a dog who does not like to go outside should not always bring up concern. It could be that a dog just has a disinterest in the outdoors. Although, owners should be cautious as a sudden dislike for the outdoors could be linked to a health issue or a negative experience, both of which can be fixed with a trip to the vet or working with a pet trainer.

Why Do Dogs Like Being Outside?

Being outside gives dogs plenty of mental stimulation. Oftentimes the outdoors provides more excitement than the toys, treats, and playtime they receive while indoors, which is why many will beg to go out.

The outdoors gives dogs a sense of freedom as well. They're free to relieve themselves, smell new territories, and meet new people or dogs. Plus, being outside helps dogs get the physical exercise they need daily.

Dog Breeds Built to Be Outdoors

If you are looking to welcome home a new dog that can keep up with your outdoor lifestyle, there are certain breeds you might want to consider. Look for breeds that are natural athletes. The following dogs are listed by Daily Paws as the best hiking dogs ready for outdoor adventures.

  • German shorthaired pointer

  • Mountain cur
