The NBA is investigating Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey over an alleged involvement in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
Giddey, 21, was connected to the allegedly underage girl through social media posts by an anonymous user, according to The Athletic. The league has launched an investigation, spokesperson Mike Bass said this past Friday.
Newsweek has reached out to the NBA, Giddey's representation and the Thunder by email to request comment on the allegations and the investigation.
Here's what we know so far.

What Happened?
On Thursday afternoon, a post to X (formerly Twitter) by an anonymous account included two videos of Giddey and a photo of him posing for a selfie with a girl. The post, which has since been deleted, said she is a junior in high school.
"Josh Giddey from the OKC thunder with an under-age girl," the post read. "First video he is talking to her brother. This is Disgusting and this man needs to be punished. We can't let this go under the surface any longer. This needs to be seen."
In the first video, Giddey appears to say, "I'm here with your beautiful sister."
What Has Giddey said?
For his part, Giddey declined to address the allegations when asked about them by a reporter on Friday.
"I understand the question obviously, but there's no comment right now," Giddey said. "I get the question, guys. I completely understand you guys want to know about it. Just for right now, I don't have anything to say."
Thunder coach Mark Daigneault offered no comment either, saying that Giddey would be available for the team going forward. He called it a "personal matter" when asked about potential distractions.
"No change in status from a basketball standpoint," Daigneault said. "Still, I have no comment on anything else. Just with the information that we have at this point, that's the decision that we've made. It's really not even a decision, to be honest with you."
Who Is Josh Giddey?
NBA fans are well acquainted with Giddey, a 6-foot-8 guard who made the 2021-22 All-Rookie team. Giddey is a well-rounded player averaging 12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists this season while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor and 30 percent from a 3-point range. He recorded 10 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in the Thunder's 127-123 loss to the Sixers on Saturday, a day after the NBA's investigation was launched.
Giddey is part of the Thunder's starting lineup, which has outscored opponents by 7.4 points per 100 possessions.
Giddey, who was drafted No. 6 overall in 2021, is on his rookie-scale contract. The Thunder exercised the option on the fourth year of his deal, which would make him a restricted free agent in 2025 if the team doesn't ink him to a rookie contract extension. In total, his rookie contract is worth more than $27 million.
When Will We Know More?
It's unclear how long the NBA's investigation will take. The Thunder takes on the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the NBA's in-season tournament on Tuesday. It seems unlikely the team or Giddey will provide further comment until the investigation is completed.
