Hulu is now airing Love Victor, a gay teen drama that is a TV spin-off from the 2018 movie Love Simon. However, the new version features an entirely new set of characters, with Simon (played by Nick Robinson) replaced by another young gay student, Victor (Michael Cimino).
However, Love Victor on Hulu is intrinsically linked to Love Simon, which takes place in the same world, known to fans as the 'Simonverse.'
In Love Victor, the events of the movie hang large over the life of Victor. At the start of the show, his family moves to Atlanta, where Victor tries to fit in, meaning that he is scared to tell anyone that he is gay.
However, at his new high school Creekwood, there is a history that Victor can follow to talk about his gay feelings anonymously. A few years previously, as seen in Love Simon, Simon went to Creekwood, where he released a series of anonymous blog posts where he did exactly that.

As such, in the early episodes of the series, Victor reaches out to Simon and the pair strike up a penpal relationship, linking the worlds of Love Simon and Victor. Simon actor Nick Robinson also provides voiceover to the Hulu show, which was originally planned for Disney+.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Love Simon Episode 8
Eventually in the show, however, the worlds of Simon and Victor collide. In Love Victor Episode 8, titled "Boy's Trip," Victor heads to New York to finally meet Simon in person. Although he is told that Simon is actually out of town, he does meet a key character from the movie.
In NYC, Victor meets Bram (Keiynan Lonsdale), Simon's boyfriend. In Love Simon, after Simon is outed, another closeted gay student starts messaging him, but will not reveal his identity. However, at the end, Bram comes out to Simon, and the two kiss on a Ferris wheel, bringing the movie to a happy ending. In Love Victor, this happy ending has not ended, and Simon and Victor are still together.
Though "Boy's Trip" is mostly about Victor learning about the big queer life that awaits him when he can graduate from Creekdale and head for the big city.
Eventually, however, the worlds of Love Victor and Simon properly come together. After Victor learns at a drag show that Simon has been sharing his messages, he leaves the bar, only to run into Simon himself.
In one last Easter egg, Simon even gives Victor the jean jacket that he wears throughout the movie, including on the Love Simon poster.
Love Victor is streaming now on Hulu.
