Lucifer Season 5 has released its first eight episodes onto Netflix, and Part 2 has almost been completed. Though Netflix viewers will not get to see Season 5B until late 2020 or (more likely 2021), its cast and crew have been revealing some info about the episodes, all but one of which have been filmed.

Showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich, as well as actors like Tom Ellis and Lauren German, have been previewing what fans can expect in Part 2 of the season, including the upcoming musical episode and what the introduction of God (Dennis Haysbert) will mean for the back half of the show.

Everything the cast and crew has said about Lucifer Season 5 Part 2

Filming on Lucifer Season 5B is almost done

When Lucifer had to end production due to the coronavirus, all episodes except its finale had already been filmed—and even the majority of that had been completed when shooting shut down.

This was revealed in an interview between Lucifer actor Tom Ellis and Da Man magazine, who he told in August: "We still have 60 percent of our season five finale to shoot. We were agonizingly close to wrapping, but lockdown beat us."

Modrovich, meanwhile, told Collider that they still had "little more than half of the final episode" to shoot, which is expected to be completed in the coming months.

As for when Season 5 Part 2 is coming out, Modrovich offered an update: "I think the second half will come out as soon as we can finish shooting it."

The season was always meant to be split in half

Though fans may have thought that Season 5 was split into two due to the second half of the show not being done, Henderson and Modorovich told Collider that Netflix's plan was always to split the season in half.

The former said: "I think they actually planned to split it ahead of time anyways, and now it's actually become a bit of a blessing because it's allowed us to get the first half out and buy some time as we race to the finish shooting the second half."

According to the latter, this is why Part 1 is structured the way it is: "Hopefully you can tell in the first eight—we built a cliffhanger at the end of Episode 8 because we did know we were going to split."

Musical episode details

Fans have known for some time that Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 would include "Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam," the series' latest musical episode.

Modrovich revealed that the songs everyone would be performing would be "pre-existing songs," while actor Aimee Garcia teased that the episode "will leave all you guys singing and dancing" in a CBR interview.

The Lucifer showrunners, however, were tight-lipped when asked whether Dennis Haysbert would be giving us a number. "That's an interesting question, and we're not going to tell you," Modrovich told Collider.

A Lucifer wedding and baby?

Now that Lucifer and Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) are an item, wedding bells and a half-demonic baby could be at play soon as the show heads into Season 5B and then its final Season 6, which has also been ordered by Netflix.

After his own real-life wedding, Ellis was asked by Entertainment Tonight whether his character might tie the knot. He said, "Well, if it's the right person, like it has been in my actual life. But yeah, who knows? Could the Devil get married? In the presence of God? We'll see."

As for a Decker/Lucifer baby, Ellis added, "all of these things could happen. Lucifer did say to Amenadiel it's really surprising that he hasn't gotten someone pregnant. If Father blesses it, then maybe."

Dan vs. God

Lucifer is not the only one who has some unfinished business with his father. In a Variety interview, Henderson teased a Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and God confrontation, saying, "keep in mind who Dan used to date [God's ex-wife], and the possible implication. You don't think we're going to play with that? Every season, we try to torture Dan."

A sad ending

All might not be well in the world of Lucifer when Season 5, Part 2 comes to an end, as Aimee Garcia teased with CBR. She said: "All I can tease is that you will laugh, you'll cry, you'll gasp. And Part 2's going to be a ringer. I'm so sorry in advance. It's going to be a fun party, and then it's going to rip your heart. So maybe get... one to two boxes of Kleenex."

Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 is coming soon to Netflix.
