With Assane Diop (played by Omar Sy) one step closer to taking down Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre) and his family, fans are eager to know if there will be more Lupin to come.

There is good news for fans of Lupin on Netflix.

The story of Assane Diop is not over and will definitely return for a third series, titled Lupin: Part 3.

The news was announced before season two had even premiered, coming shortly after season one premiered in January 2021.

The news announced on a Netflix website about Lupin's main character Assane Diop. On the homepage of the site, a statement read: "Assane is always one step ahead. Lupin will return for a part 3."

An eagle-eyed French journalist noticed the message and questioned whether it was legitimate on Twitter, leading Lupin star Omar Sy to reply.

On ne peut rien vous cacher. ?
Lupin partie 3 est confirmée !

We can’t hide anything from you. ?Lupin part 3 is confirmed!

— Omar Sy (@OmarSy) May 11, 2021

Announcing the news, Sy responded: "We can't hide anything from you. Lupin part 3 is confirmed."

Lupin Part Three will pick up from the cliffhanger ending of Part Two which saw Diop become one step closer to taking down Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre).

Diop managed to extract a confession from Hubert Pellegrini, who admitted to framing Diop's father as a thief and having him killed, so he could claim the huge insurance policy.

Diop then sent the recording to Lupin-obsessed cop, Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab) which will set up the events of Part Three.

Elsewhere, Commissioner Gabriel Dumont (Vincent Garanger) was also arrested after it was uncovered he too had a role to play in the death of Diop's father.

Part Two came to an end with Diop fleeing in a boat on the River Seine, staying true to Lupin's mantra of being one step ahead at all times.

At the moment, an official release date for Lupin Part Three has not yet been confirmed by Netflix.

If the release date of Part One is anything to go by, fans can expect Lupin part three to arrive in early January 2022.

However, Part Two of Lupin arrived just six months after Part One, so there is always the possibility Part Two could land in December 2021.

The entire main cast is expected to return for part three.

This means fans can expect to see Sy as Assane Diop and Etan Simon as his son Raoul.

Also likely to return for Part One is Ludivine Sagnier as Diop's ex-girlfriend Claire and Antoine Gouy as his best friend Benjamin.

Soufiane Guerrab will most likely return as Detective Guedira, considering he has teh confession of Hubert Pellegrini, confession.

Shirine Boutella is also likely to be back as Lietuentnat Sofia Belkacem and Vincent Londez as Capitaine Romain Laugier.

Also likely to return is the Pellegrini family including Hervé Pierre as Hubert Pellegrini and Clotilde Hesme as his daughter, Juliette Pellegrini.

Hopefully, Lupin fans will not have too much longer to wait for Lupin Part Three to arrive on screens.

Lupin Parts One and Two are streaming on Netflix now.
