A man allegedly stabbed his brother to death on his family's front porch, according to authorities in Missouri.

Kansas City police were alerted to reports that someone had been cut and raced to the 6200 block of Tracy St on Thursday.

When police arrived, they found the victim, Karl Winn, on the front porch and determined a sword had been put through his chest.

According to a homicide tracker by NBC affiliate KSHB, there have been 219 homicides in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area as of October 9.

Aaron K. Winn, 38, the victim's brother, initially told detectives that Karl had committed suicide, CBS affiliate KCTV reported.

But then Aaron then said he had been involved in an argument with his brother over an oven, per the news station.

Court documents obtained by the network stated the argument had been due to "the oven being shut off while Winn was trying to cook a pizza."

It added: "Winn conveyed in the interview that he was unhappy with the victim's lack of ownership of what Winn classified as an 'evil' wrongdoing regarding the oven."

KCTV reported Aaron Winn then showed officers a Facebook video of him threatening to kill his brother. Footage of the confrontation had been live-streamed.

The news station reported that Aaron Winn was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.

In July, a teenager was suspected of having suffocated his 4-year-old half-sister, according to South Carolina police.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said the child, identified as Joanna Lockaby, was found dead in a "wooded area" near 112 Chevy Chase Blvd.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said: "Yesterday evening investigators arrested 17-year-old William Micah Hester. Investigators believe Heter suffocated the victim, contributing to her death.

"Deputies located the victim's body in a plastic bin behind the home the victim lived in along with Hester, her half-brother."

In February, a Georgia teenager admitted to having killed her mother and brother in a 2020 fire in Monroe County before setting off to live with her boyfriend in Oregon.

Candace Walton, 18, pleaded guilty to all counts in her case, including charges of malice, murder, felony murder, theft by taking, and first-degree arson.

She was sentenced to life with a possibility of parole for the murder charges and was given a 10-year sentence for the arson charge.

Walton was initially believed to be the female victim of the fire because a body was found inside her bedroom and her mother's car was gone.
