Maryanne Trump Barry, the older sister of former President Donald Trump, died on Monday morning at the age of 86.

The New York Times first reported the death of Trump Barry, citing two anonymous sources familiar with the situation. Trump Barry was the elder sister of the former president and previously served as a federal judge in New Jersey.

She retired from her position as a federal judge in 2019, amid probes into the Trump family's business and tax practices, according to the Times.

The death of Trump Barry comes after Ivana Trump, the former president's first wife, died last July. "I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City," Trump wrote in part on Truth Social following her death.

The former president's brother, Robert S. Trump, died in 2020 at the age of 71. "He was not just my brother, he was my best friend," Trump said in a statement, the Times reported. "He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again."

Newsweek reached out to Trump's spokesperson via email for comment.

ABC News reported that Trump Barry was first appointed by former President Ronald Reagan in 1983 to the U.S. District Court in New Jersey. In 1999, she was appointed by former President Bill Clinton to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2020, Donald Trump's estranged niece, Mary Trump, released several recordings of Trump Barry speaking about her brother ahead of the release of her book, Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World's Most Dangerous Man.

"His base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this," Trump Barry said in one recording, the Associated Press reported.

In another recording, previously obtained by the AP, Trump Barry says the former president "has no principles."

The former president is currently facing an array of legal issues, including a federal indictment in Washington D.C. for alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in which he maintains his innocence. He is also facing a civil fraud lawsuit in New York, where he and his two sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, are accused of illegally inflating the value of their properties owned by The Trump Organization. The Trump family have dismissed the accusations and maintained their innocence, accusing prosecutors of being politically motivated and attempting to harm Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
