Tuesday night's 09/13/2022 Mega Millions jackpot was worth $231 million, with a cash-value option worth $123.9 million.

The winning numbers last Friday (09/09/22) for the 114.3 million jackpot were: 16-21-54-55-69 with a Mega Ball of 22. The Megaplier was 2x. There was no grand prize winner on Friday, so the jackpot for Tuesday 09/13/22 has increased to $231 million, but one player matched just five white balls, winning $1,000,000. The game also saw three winners who matched four white balls as well as the Mega Ball, each winning $10,000, with three of those ticket holders each winning the Megaplier prize of $20,000.

Two hundred forty people matched four white balls, winning them each $500, with sixty-three of them each winning the Megaplier prize of $1,000. A group of 736 people picked the numbers on three white balls as well as the Mega Ball, for which each won $200, with 163 of those ticket holders each winning the Megaplier prize of $400.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery, and it is one of America's two biggest lottery jackpot games. Mega Millions jackpots start at $20 million, and other prizes pay from $1 million to $2 million or more with a Megaplier.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET. Five white balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 70, while one yellow Mega Ball is drawn from balls numbered 1 through 25. You win if the numbers on your lottery ticket match the numbers of the balls drawn on that date.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 per play. If no one wins the jackpot prize, the money is added to the top prize for the following drawing.

Most states offer a Megaplier option, which costs an additional $1 per play and increases non-jackpot prizes by two, three, four or five times. Before each Mega Millions drawing on Tuesdays and Fridays, the Megaplier is drawn from a pool of 15 balls. Five of these balls are marked with 2X, six with 3X, three with 4X and one with 5X.
