A parent's baby name choices have been blasted online with many complaining about how old-fashioned they sound.

In a viral post shared on U.K.-discussion website Mumsnet, which can be seen here, user caitlinrose explained she had been choosing names for her baby girl with her husband, who didn't like some of the options she brought up.

According to the U.K.'s Office for National Statistics, the most popular baby names in 2020 in England and Wales were Oliver and Olivia.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., Liam and Olivia were the most popular names in 2021, according to the Social Security Administration.

But the Mumsnet user's names were not among the top 10 in either nation and led to a disagreement with her husband, who didn't like the names.

The examples caitlinrose gave were Agatha, Astrid, Elsa, Agnes, Gwendolyn and Gwenllian.

She added: "First of all, these names are off our list because I respect that my husband doesn't like them. I'm still curious to hear what people think of them.

"These are the ones my husband absolutely hate and I'd like to know if other people think they are that bad or if some people here like them."

She later added: "My husband and I have really different styles. I like classic names, quite a few eccentric names and some nature names. He is mainly into trendy names and some names that I guess could be called a bit dated. But we still managed to find some names we both like."

Since being shared Wednesday, the post received 126 responses. Many of those who replied said they were not fans of the names and added that they seemed old-fashioned.

One user said: "I'm very sorry, but I think those are all really ugly names apart from Astrid. I have always thought Agatha and Martha were the two ugliest female names in existence. They are all old lady names and Elsa, to me, is a cow or cartoon character.

"However, they're at least not boring and old lady names are definitely making a comeback, so you're possibly even more cutting edge than your DH [dear husband]."

Another posted: "Elsa I quite like, but the rest seem old-fashioned and frumpy to me."

A third commenter added: "They're all horrible. I don't like this trend of giving babies out of an Enid Blyton boarding school novel."

Newsweek was not able to verify the details of this case.

Mumsnet users have regularly shared information about their children with others on the website.

In one case, a mother who left her baby with her husband for an hour was backed online after she revealed that she felt guilty.

Another shared the emotional story about how a husband walked out on his wife of 17 years as well as their children because he was "fed up," while another parent was slammed for not putting bandages on a child's cuts.
