Pokémon Go Bug Out: What is Mega Scizor?

Scizor is the Gen 2 evolution of Gen 1's Scyther. It's a bright red and black with white accents compared to Scyther's all-green body, and it looks to have a hard, almost metal body with two arms with individual pincers on each. It's a Bug-type and Steel-type hybrid with a Bug-type Mega Evolution. It has a weakness to Fire-type Pokémon, but it's got a wealth of fantastic moves that make it a formidable opponent unless the Trainers you're facing bust out the Fire Pokémon.

Pokémon Go Bug Out: How to Catch Mega Scizor

To catch Mega Scizor in the Pokémon Go Bug Out event, you'll have to take part in a Mega Raid. Mega Raids are unique battles in which Trainers work together to defeat a single Raid Boss. In this instance, Mega Scizor is the Raid Boss you'll need to take down.

To join a Mega Raid where you'll face Mega Scizor, you'll need to find a location on the Pokémon Go map where Mega Scizor is available as a Mega Raid Boss. You can use the Nearby feature to locate Raids around you, or accept a Raid invitation from a friend. This will allow you to join, no matter your location.

You'll need to join the battle as you would any other Raid Battle by selecting the location and joining the battle. You won't be able to go it alone and will be fighting with other participants. You can choose how you'd like to join: tap Battle to match with other players automatically. Choose "Join Privately" to join a group of friends.

You'll need to use a Raid Pass to enter the Raid. These can be purchased or earned, but you'll need to ensure you have one available from the many types: Raid Pass, Premium Battle Pass, Remote Raid Pass and EX Raid Pass.

Once you've joined the Raid, you'll choose six Pokémon to battle with. The battle lasts for 45 minutes as you and several other Trainers will work together to defeat the Mega Scizor. If at the end the Mega Raid Boss has not been defeated, you can join and try again, but this will require another Raid Pass.

If you are successful, you will earn special items like Rare Candy or Golden Razz Berries. You'll also have a chance to capture the Pokémon in question. You may only use Premier Balls to capture the Mega Raid Boss, so use them wisely before the defeated Mega Scizor flees.

If you continue to search for Mega Raids where Mega Scizor is featured, you may get lucky enough to find a Shiny Mega Scizor. If that occurs, you'll come away with a special, extremely rare Mega Scizor, so be sure to give each battle your all.

Once you've added Mega Scizor to your team, be sure and tackle the rest of the challenges that the Pokémon Go Bug Out event will feature.
