A number of royal fans took time to comment on the video and the princess' adoration of both Prince William and Harry, who were 15 and 12, respectively, when she died at the age of 36 in a 1997 Paris car crash.
"Just look at how she smothers him with love," wrote one user, who added: "No wonder he wants to protect her now she's no longer here."
"She loved her boys!!!!" posted another, and a further commenter noted: "Best mom."
"God she loved her boys & they loved her. She had a young fun energy ❤️."
August 2022 marked the 25th anniversary of Diana's death in a high speed car crash while traveling with her then-boyfriend Dodi Fayed through the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris.
Though Harry and William didn't mark the anniversary in any official way, both princes paid their own tributes to their mother throughout the year. In particular Harry, who spoke of his hope that the day itself would be full of "memories" and of his wish that his two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, could have known their grandmother.
Images and footage of Diana hugging Harry have been linked to comments made by the prince in the 2017 documentary marking the 20th anniversary of her passing titled Diana: Our Mother, Her Life and Legacy.
"She would just engulf you and squeeze you as tight as possible and being as short as I was then, there was no escape, you were there for as long as she wanted to hold you," Harry said in what was at the time a rare sit down interview. "Even talking about it now, I can feel the hugs that she used to give us."

Even 25 years after her death, the legacy of Princess Diana is strongly visible today, no less through an increasing number of viral posts about her on social media, aided by representations in popular media such as The Crown and the 2021 movie Spencer.
According to most recent YouGov America polling, Diana is the most favorably viewed royal in the U.S. The princess still holds high popularity in the U.K., being ranked the fourth-most-popular royal overall, ranking higher than King Charles, Queen Camilla and even Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
The prince is expected to recount personal stories about his childhood with his mother, as well as how her death impacted him growing up in his upcoming memoir, titled Spare.
In a short introductory blurb released ahead of the January 10, 2023, publication date, readers are taken back to the day that the 12-year-old Harry walked behind his mother's coffin at her funeral, something he has since judged to have been unfair on a child his age.
"It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother's coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on," it reads.
"For Harry, this is that story at last."
The princess is also expected to be discussed by Harry in his soon-to-be-released Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. Footage of Diana being pursued by the paparazzi is shown in promotional trailers in which the prince voiced his concern at not wanting "history to repeat itself" in the media's treatment of his wife.
