A video of a puppy's endearing over-excited reactions to seeing his pet parent has melted hearts online.
In a viral clip uploaded to TikTok by user oakleythehippo on November 29, the bond between puppy Oakley and his "daddy" was clear for all to see.
The footage, which can be seen here, began with the Chinese shar-pei and cocker spaniel mix lying on his back between his pet parent and a sofa arm, before cutting to the puppy's reaction to seeing his daddy arriving home.
Oakley can be seen enthusiastically wagging his tail while sitting by the door until the pet parent comes into the room. "I can't imagine a more beautiful thing," a caption on the video said.
Each time the owner entered the room, Oakley wagged his tail and moved to get a little closer.
"I really like my daddy," a caption on the video said.
Other videos shared by the account showed Oakley's deep bond with his owner ever since being brought home.
Newsweek has contacted oakleythehippo for comment via TikTok.
According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), several signs could reveal if a dog is happy, or not, which include:
- A tail wag. While dogs might be happy when they wag their tails it is also a release of tension, so it can be for mixed reasons.
- A relaxed expression and lack of stress lines around the face and no tension in their body is a sign of happiness.
- Taking into account the breed. Different breeds might show happiness in different ways.
- Happiness for a dog is often a state of comfort, but that does not mean they get what they want all the time.
Since being shared, the clip has had more than 3.1 million views and garnered an estimated 375,900 likes.
Newsweek found the majority of commenters praised Oakley and his relationship with his owner as well as going on to share their own experiences with their pets.
TikTok user jokingly said: "The most aggressive tail wagging ever."
Mary Egan added: "Your dog is over the moon gorgeous, cute, and sweet."
While Shamelush posted: "Oak reminds me of my Cooper. I wanted him so bad, my ex didn't. Guess who my dog prefers."
Lindsay commented: "My dog with my husband. Guess he's not mine anymore."
