We all like to look our best, but one dog has taken things to another level after getting into his owner's makeup stash.

Thanks to a video with more than 730,000 views on TikTok, people have been left laughing after seeing Steven the lurcher covered from head to tail in bright red lipstick.

Posted by owner Paula Hanson on the TikTok account @steventhetalkinglurcher, the clip features the dog looking rather pleased with himself and notably covered in lipstick.

Looking innocently at the camera, Steven has quickly gained viral attention, with viewers amused by his antics. The text overlay on the video read: "I wanted to look pretty and have no idea how it got on my head."

The now famous Steven is a lurcher, a crossbred dog resulting from the mating of a sight hound with a dog of another type, such as a terrier or herding dog.

While they are not recognized by the American Kennel Club or any other major registry, these dogs are prized for their speed, hunting ability and intelligence, and they are often kept as family pets in the U.S.

Steven was cleaned up after his unorthodox makeover, but many beauty products, including lipstick, contain ingredients that can be toxic to pets if ingested or inhaled. Substances like acetone in nail polish remover, aluminum in deodorants and certain detergents in body soaps can pose serious health risks to dogs.

It is always a good idea to keep cosmetics and personal care products out of reach of your pet to prevent any accidental ingestion. If you suspect your pet might have ingested any of your cosmetics, seek veterinary advice immediately.

Steven's new style caught lots of attention online, and TikTokers shared their thoughts in the comments.

User illy099 playfully commented: "You're worth it Steven."

Viewer SamBee quipped: "Steven be like: did it smudge?!"—a reference to the canine's bewildered expression in the video.

Laurazepam88 complimented Steven's new look, writing, "Steven, that's a great color on you."

"He's smudged his lippy," joked another commenter, while one wrote: "Steven wanted to [be] pretty just like his mama. I think he nailed it."

Steven isn't the only dog to get interested in a makeover. Last year a Great Dane demanding a beauty treatment delighted social media viewers, while a rescue dog that loves to do "girly things" with her owner melted hearts.
