When one woman set up a camera to film herself singing, she caught something entirely unexpected instead as her dog howled for the very first time.

With over 1.4 million views on TikTok, people are obsessed with how Eddy the dog suddenly found his voice while his owner started vocal warm-ups to practice her singing.

Toronto-based meteorologist Kelsey McEwen was filming herself singing when her furry friend showcased a sudden and unanticipated vocal talent.

In the video posted on McEwen's account @kelseyamcewen, 3-year-old Eddy suddenly unleashed his first-ever howl, causing his shocked owner to stop in her tracks.

"I made a goal to sing more often... apparently Eddy did too," McEwen wrote in the caption of the video.

Accompanied by a text overlay revealing Eddy's age and his lack of prior howling endeavors, the video captured McEwen's genuine astonishment as her beloved pet lets out a soulful cry that she dubbed as "doggie vibrato." Eddy's newfound vocal prowess left his owner in stitches, overwhelmed by the serenade.

"His first howl?! And on camera? That's so cute," gushed one viewer named Ivy, echoing the sentiment of many other TikTok users.

Another commenter, Elephants4hire, marveled at the canine interpretation of musical appreciation: "I love knowing dogs howl when they like a noise. He said get it mom hit those notes."

Even the renowned canine connoisseurs at weratedogs couldn't resist chiming in and commented: "He really hit that."

Another viewer playfully joked: "He's showing you how it's done," encapsulating the infectious joy radiating from Eddy's impromptu performance.

Dogs' howling serves as a form of communication that can reflect various purposes or emotions. Part of an innate canine instinct, howling can be a call for attention, an expression of happiness, or simply a response to the world around them.

Some breeds are more prone to howling than others, and some dogs may very rarely howl.

Another dog's howl gained viral attention last month when he jumped straight into dramatics, bellowing loudly because he thought his family had left him home alone.

Before long though, Bear's owner came back down the stairs and he realized his howling was unwarranted.

Eddy's newfound online fame proves though that just because you haven't heard your dog let out a howl, doesn't mean they won't.
