It's been almost a year since fans last saw mad scientist Rick and his grandson Morty in their most thrilling adventure yet, and Adult Swim has finally confirmed when the show will return.
Rick and Morty is heading into its sixth season, with the eponymous time-hopping, dimension-traveling duo said to be "worse for wear and down on their luck."
Here is everything you need to know.
'Rick and Morty' Season 6 Release Date Confirmed: What You Need to Know

It was confirmed by Adult Swim on Wednesday, July 27 that Rick and Morty would return for its sixth season on Sunday, September 4.
The new season will premiere at 11 p.m. ET, with episodes of the Emmy award-winning animated series airing on a weekly basis.
In a statement about the show's return Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim and The Cartoon Network, said: "It's hard to overstate the impact of Rick and Morty.
"More than a hit show, it is truly a global phenomenon. As we prepare to launch this soon-to-be iconic season, we will be giving fans a unique way to be part of the fun—so keep your eyes peeled."
The official synopsis for Season 6 suggests doom might be on the horizon for Rick and Morty, who were last seen in the show's two-part finale where Evil Morty broke the Central Finite Curve, a wall that was blocking all multiverses where Rick wasn't the smartest man on Earth.
Evil Morty was seen stepping through a portal, suggesting that he was heading to a universe that was outside of Rick's control and thus opening up the show to any number of possible futures.
The synopsis for the show states: "It's season six and Rick and Morty are back! Pick up where we left them, worse for wear and down on their luck.
"Will they manage to bounce back for more adventures? Or will they get swept up in an ocean of p**s!
"Who knows?! P**s! Family! Intrigue! A bunch of dinosaurs! More p**s! Another can't miss season of your favorite show."
Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, Rick and Morty has truly become a global phenomenon as the animation show has been viewed over 10 billion times and Adult Swim has stated it was the top comedy on U.S. cable in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
The show stars co-creator Roiland as both Rick and Morty, and it also features Chris Parnell as Morty's dad Jerry Smith, Sarah Chalke as Morty's mom Beth, and Spencer Grammer in the role of Morty's sister Summer. The actors are all expected to return for the sixth season.
Rick and Morty Season 6 premieres on Sunday, September 4 at 11 p.m. ET on Adult Swim.
