Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had one of his worst games of the season on Sunday as the Chiefs dropped a 24-9 loss to the Denver Broncos, their first to Denver since 2015.
As Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled to deal with a stomach bug, Kelce finished with just six catches for 58 yards. That performance was a far cry from his Week 7 game against the Chargers, when he pulled down 12 catches for 179 yards.
Former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe wasn't ready to let either Kelce or Mahomes off the hook on his Nightcap show Sunday evening, but he criticized Kelce in particular. Sharpe objected to Kelce's decision to attend Game 1 of the World Series in Arlington, Texas, on the Friday before the Chiefs played the Broncos.

"If [the World Series] is in Kansas City, I've got no problem with that," Sharpe told co-host Chad Johnson. "But you mean to tell me you're going to get on a plane and go to Arlington and then you've got a game on Sunday during the season? That's a bad look."

Johnson, who is a former six-time Pro-Bowl selection at wide receiver, pushed back by noting Kelce's reputation and consistency over the years.
"Travis Kelce has a little bit more leniency to do something like that on a Friday," Johnson said. "To have a mental reset, to go enjoy a World Series game and be able to come back and perform, because you know what you get from him."
But Sharpe pointed out that NFL coaches commonly tell players to "get off their feet" and rest up on the Friday before a game.
"They don't say, 'Hey, we understand we ain't got no game on Sunday, but hey, go,'" Sharpe said. "And then you look at it, there's videos popping up, he was, like, raging. He was out[...]That's a horrible look. I'm not saying it's a bad look, I'm saying it's a horrible look. And Trav is my guy, but it's not a good look."
Kelce attended Game 1 of the NLCS with his brother Jason earlier this month, and he traveled to New York City after the Chiefs played a Thursday Night Football game against the Broncos on Oct. 12, where he and Taylor Swift made an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
But for Sharpe, the biggest issue was leaving right before a game. He said Kelce's teammates could grow to resent him if he flaunts his superstar privilege.
"Remember Russell Wilson? How he had the locker?" Sharpe said, referencing the Broncos quarterback's personal office in Denver. "How he had the office? How he got to come to certain things? And he had earned it. He won the Super Bowl. He had been a multiple-time Pro-Bowl player. I'm telling you how the human mind works. I don't care what you've accomplished. Don't thumb their nose in it[...]It's a horrible look."
The Chiefs (6-2) will travel to Germany for their Week 9 showdown against the Miami Dolphins (6-2). The two teams are first in the AFC West and East, respectively. Kelce is reportedly then expected to visit Swift during the Chiefs' bye week as her Eras Tour makes its international dates.
