A video of a beloved family dog that splits his time between the two human sibling "parents" who grew up with him has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip was posted by Mads (@madsvespa) and has had 6.4 million views. A message overlaid on the clip reads: "My brother and I share our childhood dog like divorced parents with a child."
The footage shows a dog sitting with a man in the driver's seat of a car. The pup is seen looking out the window towards the camera.
@madsvespa We even meet at halfway points to swap him.

A caption shared with the post reads: "We even meet at halfway points to swap him."
The video shows the man bringing the dog over and placing him inside another car. A voice is heard in the background squealing "Hi!" as the dog licks the hand reaching over to pet him.
The man later places a bag down near the pup before giving it some cuddles and kisses through the window. The canine licks the face of the man who says "thank you" before petting him some more as the clip ends.
The siblings' attachment to their childhood dog comes as no surprise as research has shown canine companions can form strong bounds with their humans.

The unique relationship between adult dogs and their owners "bears a remarkable resemblance to an infant attachment bond," according to a May 2013 study published in PLOS One.
"Dogs are dependent on human care and their behavior seems specifically geared to engage their owners' care-giving system," the study said.
The findings of a March 2019 study published in Scientific Reports showed that "dogs can form relationships of comparable qualities with both humans and other dogs" and "these relationships vary along multiple components across different partners."
