Stephen King Says Donald Trump 'Can't Win' Presidential Election

Critically acclaimed author Stephen King has once again hit out at former U.S. president Donald Trump on X, formerly known as Twitter.

King has long been critical of Trump, and he has now said that the businessman "can't win" the presidential election. Instead, King believes former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley could be triumphant.

This is despite recent polling indicating that Trump is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president. In most polls, he is either ahead of or tied with President Joe Biden, even though he has been preoccupied with a number of ongoing legal issues. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and called the cases against him part of a political witch hunt.

Although Haley's rating among GOP voters has recently improved due to her debate performances, she is still well behind Trump's substantial lead in the presidential polls. However, given how well her campaign is doing, there is already speculation about whether Trump would pick her to be his running mate in 2024.

King weighed in on the topic when he replied to a post made by congresswoman Lauren Boebert on X. She wrote on November 9: "This VP debate tonight is showing that the establishment thinking is still alive and well in our party, but that's why we've got President Trump... he's the America First revival we need!"

The 76-year-old author replied: "He can't win. Haley could."

Newsweek reached out to representatives for King and Trump for comment via email Friday.

Not everyone believes King's hypothesis, taking to the comments of his post to share their thoughts.

"Trump will absolutely get the nomination," one person commented.

"He will win. The people want him. Laws are only good if they can be enforced, boyo," posted another.

A third added: "Haley has no chance, only Trump can win."

Other people on the social-media platform supported the Carrie writer, agreeing with his theory.

"True. I don't think you can escape the prison thing," one person wrote.

"His supporters will start realizing by March that Trump's run for the presidency is dead. He'll be in federal court every day," another posted.

"When will they realize he's the suffocation and not revival..." someone else commented.

This isn't the first time King has called out Trump on X. On September 27, the author took to the platform to call him the "Worst. President. Ever."

Two days later, on September 29, he posted on the platform to call the former president "Donald 'The Fraudster' Trump."

More recently, King took to X on November 7 to slam the 77-year-old with a short but simple insult: "Donald Trump: Professional Victim."

King joined the Democratic Party in 1970 and has been an outspoken critic of Trump since before the 77-year-old was elected president in 2016.
