Stephen King Has Something to Say About Donald Trump

Horror author Stephen King has regularly made his opinion known about Donald Trump and has once again taken to X, formerly Twitter, to criticize the former president.

Recent polling has indicated that Trump is the front-runner for the Republican nomination for president. In most polls, he is either ahead of or tied with President Joe Biden. King hasn't let this stop him from taking to the social media platform to express his dislike of Trump .

Newsweek reached out to Trump and King representatives for comment via email Monday.

On November 11 King retweeted a post from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys actor Kevin Sorbo, who has long been a Trump-supporting Republican.

Sorbo wrote: "'I decline to answer' should be a felony crime for any politician."

The critically acclaimed novelist took this opportunity to point out that Trump did this himself recently.

"Trump took the 5th many times in his depo. As Harry Bosch says, 'When you're in a pickle, take the nickel,'" the author wrote.

This is in reference to the fact that Donald Trump and his two oldest sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr, were listed as defendants in New York Attorney General Letitia James' $250 million civil fraud trial. James, who also filed the lawsuit against the Trump Organization, is seeking to prevent the Trump family from ever conducting business in the state again.

Before the trial started in October, Judge Arthur Engoron had already found Trump liable of "persistent and repeated" fraud. The trial will now determine the penalties the Trump family will have to pay and address other claims, including falsification of business records, issuing false financial statements, insurance fraud and conspiracy.

Then on November 12, the author reshared another post from Sorbo on X, again disagreeing with the actor's opinion on the former president.

Sorbo shared a recent video of Trump at an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event at Madison Square Gardens in New York. Trump is a UFC fan and in the clip can be seen waving at the camera as people in the crowd cheer him on.

The actor captioned the video: "He's just a cool guy."

Newsweek reached out to a representative of Sorbo for comment via email Monday.

King re-shared this post and added: "He's a crook."

At the time of writing the post has been viewed 2.6 million times, with many people agreeing with King.

"Yes he is a crook!" one person wrote.

"Lock him up!" said another.

A third added: "Yep, crooked as they come!"

However, some slammed King for his post.

"We get it, you're jealous," one commenter wrote.

"Triggered much?" another said.

"No one likes you King. You are a clown," added a third.

This isn't the first time that King has taken to his X account to share his thoughts on Trump. On September 27, the author took to the platform to call him the "Worst. President. Ever."

Two days later, on September 29, he posted on the platform to call the former president "Donald 'The Fraudster' Trump."

King took to X on November 7 to slam the 77-year-old with a short but simple insult: "Donald Trump: Professional Victim."

Then more recently on November 9, King said Trump "can't win" the presidential election. Instead, he believes former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley could be triumphant.
