Stephen King's Trump vs. Biden Election Message Goes Viral

Critically acclaimed author Stephen King doesn't hold back when sharing his political opinions online—and now a post he has made about the 2024 election has gone viral.

Recent polling has indicated that Trump is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. In most presidential polls, he is either ahead of or tied with President Joe Biden, even though he has been beset by a number of ongoing legal issues.

These include a $250 million civil fraud trial in New York and 91 felony charges in separate cases. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and called the cases against him part of a political witch hunt.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, on November 17, King wrote: "If it is indeed Biden vs. Trump in 2024, it will be America's sanity test."

By November 20, the post had been seen 2.5 million times and received 14,000 comments.

Newsweek reached out to representatives for King, Trump and Biden for comment via email on Monday.

People were divided when it came to their thoughts on the post, but a lot of the top comments were by people throwing their support behind Trump.

"Agree! And the sane people vote President Trump," one person wrote.

"We have lived through the 'bringing transparency and unity' back to the White House over the last three years. Spoiler alert: it was a crock of BS. Bring @realDonaldTrump back!" said another.

A third added: "Oh it's good vs. evil and Biden is evil."

However, others took issue with Trump and Biden being the only options for them to choose between.

"So many people in this country, and this is the choice we've come up with again," one wrote.

"Are these two candidates the only candidates among 332 million Americans? Isn't it very interesting?" another asked.

"If it's going to be Biden vs. Trump, America already failed the test," another commented.

King has long been critical of Trump, having taken to the social media platform on several occasions over the years to share his unfiltered opinion.

The horror author previously said the businessman "can't win" the presidential election, instead believing the former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley could be triumphant. This is despite the fact that she is still trailing Trump's substantial lead in the primary polls. However, given how well her campaign is doing, there is already speculation about whether Trump would pick her to be his running mate in 2024.

King joined the Democratic party in 1970 and has been an outspoken critic of Trump since before the 77-year-old was elected president in 2016. On May 24, 2016, King was one of 450 writers to sign an open letter opposing Trump's candidacy, giving his backing to Hilary Clinton's campaign.

In 2018, he blasted the then-president over his funding demand for a "border wall," urging him to spend the money on aid for children and veterans instead.

"F*** your vanity project," he posted to X, known as Twitter at the time. "Do something good for once."

In 2019, the Carrie writer criticized Trump over his praise for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

King has regularly taken to X in recent months to share his dislike for the former president. On September 27, the author took to the platform to call him the "Worst. President. Ever." Two days later, he called the him, "Donald 'The Fraudster' Trump." King also posted to X on November 7 to slam the 77-year-old with a short but simple post: "Donald Trump: Professional Victim."
