Takeoff, a rapper best known as a member of the popular hip-hop trio Migos, was shot and killed early Tuesday outside a Houston bowling alley, a representative confirmed to the Associated Press.

In the hours since his death, fans have noticed a couple of death references the 28-year-old music star made during his final days. One such instance happed on the popular podcast Drink Champs, where Takeoff—born Kirshnik Khari Ball—discussed wanting to receive respect for his musical skills before his death.

"I mean, it's time to give me my flowers. I don't want them later when I ain't here. I want 'em right now," Takeoff said when Drink Champs host N.O.R.E. asked him about his performance on his latest album.

Takeoff also posted a final Instagram Story that some people feel was prophetic. The post shows the rapper in a still photo smoking while the Playboi Carti track "Stop Breathing" plays.

"I find it really crazy that takeoffs last post had a song attached to it called "Stop Breathing" by playboi carti. The eeriness," a Twitter user wrote on Tuesday.

The episode of Drink Champs with Takeoff debuted on October 22, just over a week before his death. He was joined by fellow Migos member Quavo, and the duo discussed their latest album, Only Built for Infinity Links. The project also features rap stars such as YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Young Thug and Gunna.

N.O.R.E. praised Takeoff for his work on the album, saying he was "shining" and "dancing on this one."

Takeoff responded, "Enough is enough. I'm chill, I'm laid back, but it's time to pop it. You know what I mean?"

On Tuesday, the Drink Champs Twitter account simply posted a photo of Takeoff's appearance on the show, with a caption that read: "No words just heartbreaking."

"Hug your loved ones," Drink Champs co-host DJ EFN wrote on Twitter, in a seeming reference to Takeoff.

The late star's peers have paid tribute to him since news broke of his death, with Gucci Mane, Not3s and Yung Miami among those who have expressed their grief on social media.

"RIP Takeoff this is too sad...that man never bothered anyone. And he was a damn good rapper," producer A-Trak tweeted.

Famous fans also weighed in on his death.

"Sick about @1YoungTakeoff. I met him a few times and was such a bright light. May he shine eternally now," Mike Tyson wrote.

Newsweek has reached out to Takeoff's record label for comment.
