Taylor Swift Was Outraged on Travis Kelce's Behalf vs. Patriots

Taylor Swift was in attendance for Travis Kelce's game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, and like any supportive significant other, she was outraged on his behalf when she believed he should have been the recipient of a flag in the end zone.

Whether or not Kelce actually deserved the flag is a matter of debate. Here's a look at the play, which happened during the third quarter at Gillette Stadium.

As Kelce tried to create separation from Myles Bryant, he pulled away from the Patriots' defensive back and hit the deck. There didn't appear to be much contact from Bryant warranting Kelce's fall, but presumably, the Chiefs' tight end saw an opportunity to earn a pass interference call since Bryant's back was turned to the ball throughout the play.

Still, officials opted not to throw a flag, much to Swift's dismay. A number of users on social media seemed to think Swift reacted with an obscenity, but it's also possible she was calling for a "flag." Either way, if Swift's words weren't clear, the sentiment certainly was.

Despite the frustration of both Swift and Kelce, the Chiefs had an excellent third quarter, outscoring the Patriots 13-0 to take a commanding lead late in the game.

Swift has experienced more frustration than expected in her new-found role as the Chiefs' most famous fan.

While the defending Super Bowl champions won their first four games with Swift in attendance—one each against the Chicago Bears, New York Jets, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers—Kelce and Kansas City have not had as much success over the last few weeks. Since Swift returned to the United States following the first leg of her international Eras Tour, the Chiefs lost to both the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills, part of a skid that included three losses in four games. After starting the season 7-2, the Chiefs were 8-5 entering Sunday's game and third in the AFC playoff picture.

On the "New Heights" podcast this week, Kelce said the Chiefs have plenty of talent to reverse their fortunes.

"What's real is we've got guys that can play this game, and we've got guys that we can have success with, and win with, and win championships with," Kelce said. "I know it. I've been on championship-caliber teams. ... I just wanted to make sure that Chiefs Kingdom, everybody knows that we have everybody we need, and we're going to get it fixed, man."
