Watch Cheeky Beagle Riding in Bike Basket Steal Owner's Breakfast

A beagle in a bike basket has been caught on camera pinching his owner's breakfast.

Over 2.8 million people have watched @gappie_the_beagle on TikTok. More than 232,000 people have liked the video captioned: "Don't you hate it when that happens?"

His owner Manon Menting, 32, from Amsterdam, Netherlands, told Newsweek Gappie, 2, is "always hungry" so it is no surprise he couldn't resist her croissant.

The viral video, posted on November 2, has apparently boosted many people's serotonin. You can watch the video here.

Menting told Newsweek: "He is everything you expect a beagle to be. He is stubborn, always hungry, super sociable, loud, and always on the lookout for mischief.

"I am Dutch I practically came out of the womb cycling. So it is normal to me; Gappie and I cycle everywhere together and go on adventures together."

Menting told other TikTok users that Gappie has been basket-trained since he was a small puppy, which is why he remains calm and seated.

Other users aren't shocked to see Gappie tucking into the food, one user wrote: "beagle being a beagle."

The American Kennel Club describes the beagle as "an excellent hunting dog and loyal companion, it is also happy-go-lucky and funny. They were bred to hunt in packs, so they enjoy the company and are generally easygoing."

A "beagle's nose can lead them straight to food—sometimes making them less discerning about nutrition than they should be," according to PetCareRx.

The pet medication and supplies site states beagles aren't fussy when it comes to food so owners should be mindful when feeding their pups to prevent them from being overweight. This can be done by measuring their intake of food and feeding "creatively to engage the dog's hunting skills."

This could involve dispensing rubber toys and slow-feeding dog bowls. A beagle's diet should include "vegetables, fruits, and carbohydrates such as brown rice add healthy fiber to the food," according to pet pharmacy PetCareRx.

Hundreds of people have commented on the video, one user said: "beagle eating a bagel would be hilarious."

"That's one of the most beagle things I have seen," agreed another.

Another user compared the bike ride to a taxi and said: "Great service, snacks included in the trip. Five stars."

"Yes. This is what having a beagle is all about," wrote another person.
