Trump Bashes Biden, Ignores DeSantis

During his 2024 presidential announcement, Donald Trump took aim at President Joe Biden and Democrats for the state of the country after he left office in 2021.

"Under our leadership, we were a great and glorious nation, something you haven't heard for quite a long period of time," Trump said to a crowd of supporters at his Mar-a-Lago home. "We were a strong nation and importantly, we were a free nation."

"Now we are a nation in decline," he added. "We are a failing nation. For millions of Americans, the past two years under Joe Biden have been a time of pain, arching anxiety and despair."

Trump said the Biden administration "destroyed the U.S. economy," highlighting record-high inflation and soaring gas prices in the past year. He also accused Biden of intentionally surrendering U.S. energy independence and "begging" foreign countries for energy.

"Joe Biden has also proven that he is committed to indoctrinating our children and even using the Department of Justice against parents who object it's a terrible thing," Trump said.

He added that Biden "abolished" America's borders, allowing for drugs, crime and human trafficking to flow into the country.

Trump also said Biden is the "face of left-wing failure and Washington corruption."

"The Radical Left Democrats have embraced an extreme ideology of government domination and control," Trump said. "Our approach is the opposite one based on freedom values individual responsibility and just plain common sense common sense."

On the global stage, Trump insinuated Biden has been weak and unliked among allies and adversaries alike.

He said under the leadership of Biden and the "radical" Democrats, America has been "mocked, derided and brought to it's knees."

Trump blasted Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan and said blamed the president for "possibly getting us into World War III" with Russia.

After a missile was launched into Poland, Trump said "people are going absolutely wild and crazy and they're not happy."

"Now we have a president who falls asleep at global conferences, was held in contempt by the British parliament over Afghanistan," Trump said. "He said 'thank you' to the wrong country for inviting him to a major summit on the environment of all things."

Trump said Biden didn't show up to the G20 dinner Tuesday night.

"He had a big G20 dinner tonight," he said. "Everybody flew over to wherever they flew over and, guess what? He never showed up. They're still looking for him, what's going on?"

Trump said his campaign will ensure Biden "does not receive four more years" after the president has "put America last."

During the speech, Biden tweeted a video captioned, "Donald Trump failed America."

The video said the Trump administration rigged the economy for the rich, had the worse jobs record since the Depression, attacked health care and women's rights and "incited a violent mob" at the U.S. Capitol.

Noticeably absent from Trump's speech was fellow Republican leader and possible 2024 GOP opponent Ron DeSantis.

Trump has taken aim at the Florida governor at rallies in recent weeks, calling him "Ron De-Sanctimonious."

Trump Campaign Will 'Shatter Forces of Tyranny'

Donald Trump said he will "stand tall in the storm" amid criticism he expects as he launches his presidential campaign.

"We will be attacked, slandered, but will not be intimidated," he said. "We will stand tall in the storm."

In the end, Trump said he and his supporters, as well as the country, "will win."

Trump promised to create communities "where children will grow up safe and strong," re-establish the principles of "hard work and merit" and end homelessness.

He also said he will "heal divisions" and bring people together to "defend life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

"We will plant our beautiful American flag very soon on the surface of Mars, which I got started," he said. "But we need everyone involved, we need everyone's help. We need to be friends."

Trump said this is more than just a presidential campaign, but "a quest to save our country."

"I am asking for your vote, for your support, for your friendship and prayers," he said, as he is on a "very incredible but dangerous journey."

"We will shatter the forces of tyranny," he added. "America's golden age is just ahead."

Together, Trump said his campaign will make America powerful, wealthy, strong, proud, safe and glorious again.

"We will make America great again," he said, concluding his 2024 campaign announcement.

Trump Wants for Congressional Term Limits, Paper Ballots

In additional to global and national security issues, Donald Trump promised to take on cultural issues.

"I will be the president who finally fixes education in America," he said.

He said he will not let me participate in women's sports and defend families and parental rights.

Trump also proposed plans to impact America's governmental systems.

He said he will "further drain the swamp" and push for a Constitutional amendment to impose term limits on members of Congress.

Trump also said he will put a lifetime ban on lobbying on former members of Congress and Cabinet members.

Trump said he will "bring back honesty and confidence" in U.S. elections.

To eliminate cheating, he will "immediately demand" voter ID and same-day voting laws and require elections use paper ballots only.

"Our country is a laughing stock right now," he said. "There will be much more to come in the months ahead."

Trump said the journey ahead will "not be easy" as he seeks to "take on this corrupt system."

Trump Promises to 'Restore, Secure" US Borders

Donald Trump also said he will "restore and secure" America's borders and finish building the southern border wall.

He said he will end "catch and release" and restore his "remain in Mexico" policy, adding that we "have no idea who" the people crossing the border into the U.S. are.

Trump also promised to "stop the flow of deadly trucks and human trafficking" coming into the United States.

He called the situation at the southern border "a total breakdown of law and order."

"People being shot and killed at random like no one's ever seen before," he said, adding that as president he will "immediately launch a campaign to dismantle gangs."

He said he will "wage war" on drug cartels and stop the flow of fentanyl into the U.S.

Trump Promises to 'Build Greatest Economy Ever'

Donald Trump said he will ensure President Joe Biden "does not receive four more years" in the White House.

"Our country could not take that," Trump said. "I don't say that in laughter, I say that in tears."

Trump said he will once again "put America first" to "save our country."

"This campaign will be for you," he said.

Trump said he will receive even more votes than he did in the 2020 election, noting gains the Republican Party has made with Latino voters.

"In 2020, I received the largest number of votes of any sitting president in history by a lot and we will do it again but with even more votes this time," he said.

Trump said his campaign will be about "issues."

"Our victory will be built upon 'daring dreams' for America's future," he said. "We don't wanna be complainers, I never wanted to be a critic."

While others "tell people what's wrong but can't do it themselves," Trump said his campaign will "fight to lift up the working men and women of America."

Trump promised to "build the greatest economy ever" after Biden "destroyed" the U.S. economy.

He said he will bring down inflation, end Biden's "war" on American energy and undo the Green New Deal to bring costs down.

Trump Says Being President is Not for a 'Conventional Candidate'

Donald Trump said he is running for president to take on "the most corrupt forces and entrenched interests imaginable."

"Our country is in a horrible state. We're in grave trouble," he said.

Trump said fixing America's current problems is not a task for a politician or "conventional candidate."

"This is a task for a great movement that embodies the courage, confidence and the spirit of the American people," he said. "This is a movement this is not for any one individual."

Trump said this is a job for "tens of millions of proud people working together from all across the land and from all walks of life."

He added that the Republican Party has become "much bigger, much stronger, much more powerful can do much more good for our country."

Trump promised to bring people together and unify all political parties through his success.

"I am your voice," he said. "The Washington establishment wants to silence us. We won't let them."

He added that his political movement was not about politics, but about a love for America.

Trump said he is running for president because he believes the world has not seen the true glory of want the United States can be.

He said he will "get us out of this ditch" so Americans will "see things no one imagined" for our country.

"I will fight like no one fought before," he said.

Trump Announces 2024 Candidacy

Former President Donald Trump official announced his candidacy for the President of the United States in 2024.

"America's comeback starts right now," he said to supporters at Mar-a-Lago.

He said under his leadership as president, the United States was a "great, glorious nation" that was the "pinnacle of power and prestige."

Trump touted his work combating the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. energy dominance, the closed southern border and his relationships with Russia, North Korea and China.

He blasted the current record-high inflation and gas prices and said Russia's invasion into Ukraine would have never happened if he was president.

Trump said America is now a failing nation that has been mocked under the Biden administration.

"It does not have to be this way," he said.

Trump Takes the Stage for Announcement

President Trump has taken the stage at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.

The former president is about to deliver his highly-anticipated announcement that is expected to launch his 2024 White House bid.

Trump Files Paperwork for 2024 Presidential Run

Ahead of his announcement tonight, former President Donald Trump takes a major step towards his 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump officially filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to run for president as a Republican.

The organization "Donald Trump for President 2024" has been filed with the FEC as a "Principle Campaign Committee." This is affiliated with Trump's "SAVE AMERICA JOINT FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE."

MTG Says Trump 'Has My Full Endorsement'

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia said Tuesday that former President Donald Trump "has my full endorsement" ahead of Trump's anticipated 2024 presidential campaign launch Tuesday night.

Greene spoke with reporters Tuesday afternoon following House Republican leadership meetings. After voicing support for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's bid to become the next House speaker, Greene briefly spoke of Trump's upcoming event at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

"Speaking of 2024, we know that President Trump has a special announcement tonight, and I'll go ahead and say right now: President Trump has my full endorsement and my support as our Republican nominee in 2024," Greene said.

Greene, who questions the results of the 2020 presidential election, has appeared at several Trump rallies since he left office in early 2021. Trump endorsed Greene in her bid for re-election earlier this year, and she went on to defeat her Democratic challenger in last week's midterm elections.

While Greene publicly doubted McCarthy had enough support to become House speaker in the past, she voiced support for McCarthy on Tuesday when he was elected the GOP's nominee for speaker following a challenge from Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona. Greene told reporters she is "very proud" of McCarthy "for listening to every single member" of the House Republican Conference during Tuesday's leadership meetings.

Greene also noted that Democrat Nancy Pelosi and Republican Paul Ryan faced challenges in their bids to become House speaker in years past.

"This is normal, it's productive and it's healthy," Greene said. "I am sure that our conference, when we come together to elect our speaker on January 3, I know that we'll be unified and that we'll come together and get this done."

Graham Discourages Trump 2024 Announcement Timing

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham criticized the timing of a likely 2024 presidential campaign announcement from former President Donald Trump. Trump is widely expected to officially launch his campaign Tuesday night.

Following Senate leadership meetings on Tuesday, Graham wrote on Twitter that he believes both Senate leadership decisions and presidential campaign announcements should come after Georgia's Senate runoff election next month.

"I fall in the camp of believing we should focus on Georgia before we have leadership elections in the Senate," Graham tweeted. "The same goes for those who aspire to be President in 2024."

Graham mentioned Trump specifically while telling reporters he does not believe a 2024 presidential campaign announcement should happen now, according to CBS News.

While midterm election results thus far have shown Democrats will retain control of the U.S. Senate, the outcome of Georgia's Senate race remains uncertain. Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker, who is endorsed by Trump, will compete in a runoff election on December 6 after neither candidate received at least 50 percent of the votes cast in Georgia.

McCarthy Celebrates End of One-Party Rule in D.C.

Republican Representative Kevin McCarthy spoke to reporters for the first time after securing his party's nomination for House Speaker.

He said the American people now have a say in their government, as Republicans are projected to take the majority in the House.

"I'm proud to announce the era of one-party Democrat rule in Washington is over," he said before introducing the rest of new GOP House leadership team.

"We know our job will not be easy. we know the task, we've got a close majority," he said. "We're going to have to work together."

He said Republican House leadership is willing to work with anyone, on both sides of the aisle, who "wants to make America stronger."

Republicans are "ready to lead" the American people, McCarthy said, "regardless of the size of the majority."

"They don't have gavels out in small medium and large," he said. "You get the right sized gavel and we will use it."

McCarthy said he is confident he will have the votes to become House Speaker, adding he is not concern about getting votes from Democrats.

He won the GOP nomination 188-31, but will need at least 218 votes in January.

"We have the majority as Republicans and we will get there [to 218 votes] as Republicans," McCarthy said.

House Republican "have our work cut out for us," McCarthy admits, as he promised to listen to all members of the GOP conference.

He said he respects each member of the conference equally, even those members of the Freedom Caucus who do not support McCarthy's bid for Speaker.

While all sides of the conference will need to make concessions, McCarthy said, as GOP House leader, he will "listen to all voices."

"When the conference is this tight, we all have to work together," he said. "Either we are going to lead as a team or we're gonna lose as individuals. I think we will lead as a team."

McCarthy is determined to make changes in the House, including ending proxy voting and holding the U.S. government accountable, something he said didn't happen under one-party rule in Washington.

He adds that Democratic rule in both Congress and the White House lead to high inflation, high gas prices, an unsecure southern border, unsafe subways and a Justice Department "that goes after parents simply because they go to a school board meeting, they call them terrorist."

"That all changes today because there is no longer one party rule," McCarthy said. "The American public now has a voice."

In terms of the "Red Wave," McCarthy still views the midterm elections as a GOP win, as they won the majority in the House.

"Did we want something bigger? Yes we did," he said.

McCarthy said the Republican proportion of the vote compared to the Democrat proportion was higher than it was in 2010, but admits some some top-of-the-ticket races for Senate and Governor didn't go their way and cost them seats down the ticket.

He added that this is a time to reflect on choosing the right candidates and the right message going into election.

"We won, but we could have won bigger,' he said.

Trump 2024 Presidential Bid Expected Soon

Former President Donald Trump is expected to announce his third campaign for the White House soon.

Trump is set make an announcement many believe to confirm his 2024 presidential bid Tuesday night at his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.

"Hopefully TODAY will turn out to be one of the most important days in the history of our Country!" he said in a Truth Social post.

The announcement will begin at 9 p.m. ET and will stream live on CSPAN and Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN).

Republicans Win the House, Decision Desk Projects

Republicans will have the majority in the U.S. House of Representative, Decision Desk HQ reports.

Decision Desk HQ projects that Republicans will have the 218 seats necessary to flip the House, pending calls in 14 outstanding races.

This call came in at 6:38 p.m., two weeks after the midterm election polls closed.

Blake Masters Concedes to Mark Kelly in AZ

Republican Blake Masters said Tuesday that he conceded Arizona's Senate race to Democratic incumbent Mark Kelly.

Masters, who received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump earlier this year, was running in the midterms to unseat Kelly, who began representing Arizona in the U.S. Senate in 2020. Major news networks called the race for Kelly on November 11.

In a statement Masters shared on social media, he said he "called and congratulated" Kelly Tuesday morning.

"There were obviously a lot of problems with this election, but there is no path forward in my race," Masters said.

After thanking his campaign and campaign volunteers, Masters' statement took issue with Democrat spending in his race and said Republicans "need to start thinking like underdogs."

Arizona's Senate race was too close to call for several days after the November 8 midterms as ballot counting continued. As of Tuesday, state election results showed Kelly had 51.4 percent of the vote count and Masters had 46.5 percent.

Masters is one of several Trump-backed Republican candidates who lost this election cycle.

House GOP Elects Whip, Majority Leader, Conference Chair

The Republicans in the House of Representatives held leadership elections for the 118th Congress Tuesday.

In addition to Kevin McCarthy securing the Speaker nomination, House Republicans also elected Louisiana's Steve Scalise as the Republican Majority Leader.

Minnesota Representative Tom Emmer was elected as the Republican Majority Whip and Elise Stefanik of New York was elected as the House GOP Conference Chair.

Alabama Representative Gary Palmer was elected as Policy Chair and Representative Rich Hudson of North Carolina was elected chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).

While the makeup of the House has not yet been officially confirmed, most projections indicate Republicans will flip the House and become the majority party.

McConnell Says He 'Will Be Elected' Senate Minority Leader

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is confident he will retain his leadership position despite Florida Senator Rick Scott's announcement that he will run for Senate GOP leadership.

While speaking to reporters Tuesday, McConnell said he wants "to repeat again" as the GOP leader in the Senate.

"I think the outcome is pretty clear," he said, one day before senators are set to hold leadership elections. "I have the votes. I will be elected. The only issue is whether we do it sooner or later."

This comes after Republican Senators held a lengthy three-hour meeting Tuesday. Leadership elections are set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When asked about Scott's plan to challenge McConnell, the Minority Speaker said he doesn't "own this job."

"Anybody in the conference is certainly entitled to challenge me," he said.
" I welcome the contest."

Scott and other Republican lawmakers have blamed McConnell and his lack of a unified GOP agenda for Republican losses in the midterms.

When asked by reporters, McConnell said every one of the GOP candidates "knew what they were for" and said Republicans "underperformed" with Independents and moderates.

"We underperformed among independents and moderates because their impression of many of the people in our party in leadership roles is that they're involved in chaos, negativity, excessive attacks, and it frightened independent and moderate Republican voters," he said.

McConnell also said he "never" predicted a "Red Wave," saying he didn't see any indication of a wave in the polling data he had.

MAGA War Room Account Appears on Twitter

A "MAGA War Room" Twitter account has appeared on the platform ahead of former President Donald Trump's anticipated announcement Tuesday night. The account links to the Make America Great Again Inc. political action committee.

Trump is expected to announce his 2024 presidential campaign. Since leaving office last year, he has repeatedly hinted that he will run for president again.

A "Trump War Room" Twitter account announced on Monday that the "MAGA War Room" account had been created and encouraged followers to also follow the new account. Accompanying the announcement was a photo of Trump standing in front of a row of American flags.

The new account's first tweet, posted Monday morning, said, "Are you ready for President Trump's big announcement tomorrow?"

The account later retweeted a post by Ryan Fournier, the founder of Students for Trump. Fournier's post alerted his followers to the "MAGA War Room" account and encouraged people to follow it.

On Tuesday, the new account also tweeted a screenshot of one of Trump's posts on Truth Social. Trump's post said, "Hopefully TODAY will turn out to be one of the most important days in the history of our Country!"

Rick Scott to Challenge McConnell for Senate Leadership

Florida Senator Rick Scott plans to challenge Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell for Republican Senate leadership.

Scott, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, wrote a letter to his GOP colleagues announcing his intention to run for Senate Minority Leader.

"I'm writing to you today because I believe it's time for the Senate Republican Conference to be far more bold and resolute than we have been in the past," he wrote in a letter to GOP colleagues. "We must start saying what we are for, not just what we are against."

McConnell's Senate leadership has remained largely unchallenged. He has served as Senate Minority Leader since Jan. 2021. He was previously the Senate Majority Leader from 2015 to 2021 and served as Senate Minority Leader before that from 2007 to 2015. He has been in the Senate representing Kentucky since 1985.

Instead of continuing to call Democrats "radical," Scott said Republican lawmakers need to "promote and advance conservative values. " This comes amid a worse-than-expected performance of Republican candidates in the recent midterm elections.

While Republicans have been assigning blame for the lack of a "Red Wave" to different people in the party, like McConnell, Representative Kevin McCarthy and former President Donald Trump, Scott said "there is no one person responsible for our party's performances across the country." He added that GOP finger-pointing is a "massive waste of time."

Scott said the party has continued to elect leadership who refuse to give voters a plan for leadership "and elicits attacks on anyone that does."

"That is clearly not working and it's time for bold change," he said. "The voters are demanding in.

Scott said he is asking support from fellow Senators who "want to get serious about ending reckless government spending and the devastating inflation it has caused, finally take action to protect Social Security and Medicare and preserve the promise of these programs for our children and grandchildren, hold government accountable from the FBI to the IRS, truly combat the extreme danger posed by Communist China and refocus our military on lethal defense instead of woke nonsense."

"I ask for your support in changing the direction of the Senate and rescuing America from the dangerous path Democrats have set it on," he wrote.

As leader, Scott said he will work to elect all Republican Senators, regardless if they support him, always give Senators a chance to review legislation before a vote, be "transparent," "advance Republican priorities" and "force Democrats to vote on our bills."

He said he will "lead the conference in developing a positive, aspirational agenda" that outlines GOP legislative goals and "what Senate Republicans stand for."

Senate Republicans are set to hold leadership elections Wednesday morning.

Greg Abbott Sends Migrant Bus to Philadelphia

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that a bus of migrants was departing from Texas and traveling to Philadelphia.

"In addition to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago, sanctuary city Philadelphia will now be a drop-off location for the State of Texas' busing strategy as part of the Governor's unprecedented response to President Biden's open border policies overwhelming border communities in Texas," Abbott's office said in a press release.

In a statement, Abbott criticized Biden's border policies and said, "until the Biden Administration does its job and provides Texans and the American people with sustainable border security, Texas will continue doing more than any other state in the nation's history to defend against an invasion along the border, including adding more sanctuary cities like Philadelphia as drop-off locations for our busing strategy."

In addition to the announcement by Abbott, several other Republican lawmakers took aim at Biden and migrant crossings at the border, following an update from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which showed that the total number of migrant encounters in October was 230,678, an increase of 1.3 percent from the previous month.

"The large number of individuals fleeing failing communist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba is contributing to an increased number of migrants attempting to cross the border," CBP said in the update.

In response, Tennessee Republican Senator Bill Hagerty said, "our southern border is wide-open & vulnerable, CBP is completely overwhelmed, and 5 million illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border—including 230,000 migrant encounters in October alone—since Joe Biden took office."

Similarly, Representative Dan Bishop said, "Our border is wide open, and our leaders can't even admit the truth of it."

Gaetz Says 'Big Opposition' to McCarthy As Speaker

Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida said there is "big opposition" to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy becoming the next House Speaker, if the Republican Party wins control of the chamber.

Gaetz has frequently suggested other Republican members of Congress should challenge McCarthy as the House's GOP leader. He repeated those suggestions in social media posts this week, saying on Monday, "We cannot trust Kevin McCarthy to be Speaker of the House."

During a Tuesday appearance on The Charlie Kirk Show, Gaetz said there "are definitely at least five people, actually a lot more than that, who would rather be waterboarded by Liz Cheney than vote for Kevin McCarthy for speaker of the House," adding, "I'm one of them."

House Republicans held an election on Tuesday to decide on the party's leadership following last week's midterm elections. After a challenge from Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, McCarthy was chosen as the party's nominee for speaker.

Gaetz commented on an announcement the House GOP posted on Twitter about McCarthy's nomination, writing, "31 votes against. Big opposition. Kevin McCarthy does not have the votes to be Speaker of the House."

Control over the House remains undecided a full week after the midterms, though Republicans are expected to win back a majority once all races have been called. If they do, McCarthy will face another vote once the new Congress convenes in January. He will need a majority—218 votes or more—in order to become the House's next speaker.

Plane Trolls Trump in Florida

A plane seen flying in Florida appears to be trolling former President Donald Trump ahead of his big announcement tonight.

NBC News reporter Marc Caputo shared a video of a plane near Trump's Mar-a-Lago home pulling an anti-Trump banner.

The banner reads: "You lost again Donald!" and adds #DeSantis2024, indicating support for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the GOP's 2024 presidential nominee.

Herschel Walker Releases First Campaign Ad Ahead of GA Runoffs

Georgia Republican Senate Candidate Herschel Walker released his first ad ahead of next month's runoff election against incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock.

"Our campaign is low on money and needs to refuel. We spent everything we had in the lead-up to Election Day, but Raphael Warnock still has gobs of money left over from the General Election," Walker's campaign said in an email obtained by Newsweek. "Today, Team Herschel launched our first ad of the runoff, but the ad is not running on as many stations as we'd like to be."

In the ad, supporters are heard praising Walker saying that he has "small town values" and his desire to give back and help the people of Georgia.

After neither of the two candidates received 50 percent of votes tallied, a runoff is scheduled for December 6.

Michael Cohen's Lawsuit Against Trump Dismissed

A lawsuit filed against former President Donald Trump by Michael Cohen, once an attorney for Trump, has been dismissed by a U.S. District Court judge.

The case involved allegations by Cohen that Trump and others working as part of Trump's presidential administration put Cohen behind bars in mid-2020 after he had been sent to serve the rest of his sentence at home. Cohen was serving time for campaign finance violations and others, to which he pleaded guilty in 2018.

Cohen alleged in the lawsuit, which was filed late last year, that his transfer back to jail was driven by his plans to write a book about his relationship with and knowledge of the former president.

Judge Lewis Liman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York cited precedent in his ruling against letting Cohen's case move forward, according to CNN.

Kevin McCarthy Wins GOP Nomination for House Speaker

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy received the GOP nomination for House Speaker on Tuesday.

"House Republicans have elected Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) as our nominee for Speaker for the 118th Congress!" House Republicans said in a tweet on Tuesday.

According to CNN, McCarthy received 188 votes, while his Republican challenger, Arizona Representative Andy Biggs, received 33 votes. The vote was a secret ballot and an anonymous source confirmed the votes to CNN.

"The promised red wave turned into a loss of the United States Senate, a razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives, and upset losses of premiere political candidates," Biggs said in a series of tweets on Tuesday morning, announcing that he was running for House Speaker.

"My bid to run for Speaker is about changing the paradigm and the status quo. Minority Leader McCarthy does not have the votes needed to become the next Speaker of the House and his speakership should not be a foregone conclusion."

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that Republicans are one seat away from obtaining the 218 seat majority. If Republicans do take control of the House, McCarthy could unseat current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump Defeats Niece Mary in Inheritance Lawsuit

Former President Donald Trump was victorious in an inheritance lawsuit against his niece, Mary Trump.

Mary Trump previously filed a lawsuit against Donald Trump, her other uncle Robert Trump and aunt Maryanne Trump Barry, alleging that they defrauded her out of an inheritance from her father, Fred Trump Jr., who died in 1981.

According to Bloomberg, New York Justice Robert Reed said that a previous settlement in 2001, indicated that she waived her right to file any additional lawsuits against her uncles and aunt.

"If plaintiff did not wish to forego suing on fraud she might discover in the future, she could have insisted that the releases be conditioned on the truth and accuracy of the financial information provided by defendants," the ruling said, according to Bloomberg.

In a statement sent to Reuters, Mary Trump's lawyer Roberta Kaplan called the ruling "incorrect."

"Given the age of the defendants, not to mention the fact that one of them intends to announce today that he is running again for President, we intend to seek an expedited appeal," the statement said.

On the other hand, James Kiley, an attorney who represents Trump and Robert Trump's estate told Reuters that the court "dispensed justice blindly without fear or favor."

Biden Slams Trump in Video

President Joe Biden criticized former President Donald Trump in a video posted on social media Tuesday.

The video, which was originally posted online by the Democratic Party, was shared to mark the one-year anniversary of Biden signing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The video starts with a split screen showing Biden signing the bill into law on the right side of the screen, and a series of clips showing Trump talking about infrastructure on the right side of the screen. The clips of Trump slowly slide off the screen until Biden is the only one pictured.

"Trump talks. Biden delivers," the party's tweet accompanying the video said.

Biden later shared the same video, writing, "The difference between talking and delivering."

Biden shared the video just hours before Trump is expected to announce plans to run for president in 2024. Trump has repeatedly hinted at running for office again since leaving the White House in early 2021, but he has yet to officially launch his campaign.

Biden has also said he will likely run for re-election in 2024.

As of Tuesday morning, Biden's approval rating was at about 41.7 percent and his disapproval rating was at about 53.3 percent, according to polling averages compiled by FiveThirtyEight. Biden's approval rating at this point in his presidency is about the same as Trump's approval rating when he was nearly two years into his term, and nearly four points behind that of former President Barack Obama when Obama was coming out of his first midterm election season.

Mike Pence Releases Autobiography

Former Vice President Mike Pence's new autobiography was released today.

The book, titled So Help Me God, includes details of his relationship with former President Donald Trump, which he said "did not end well," though the duo "parted amicably" from the White House.

The book, released by Simon & Schuster, is "the inside story of the Trump administration by its second highest official," documenting Pence's early years in Indiana politics through his time in Trump's administration and his experience during the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol Building, according to the publisher.

In a short video previewing the book that Pence posted Monday on Twitter, the former vice president described the autobiography as "a book that is grounded in Hope and the belief that whatever life throws at us, if we lean on Him and hold firm to our family, our convictions, and our ideals we'll see our way through."

Pence mostly backs Trump throughout the book, according to the Associated Press, but identifies the Capitol riot as a time when things changed.

"For four years, we had a close working relationship," Pence wrote, according to AP. "It did not end well," he added, later writing that he and Trump "parted amicably" once they left the White House.

Pence is among the handful of Republicans rumored to be considering a run for president in 2024. His book release comes on the same day that Trump is expected to announce his own 2024 presidential campaign.

Betting Odds Favor Ron DeSantis for 2024 Presidency

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is currently the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 presidential election.

According to odds from BetMGM, which were posted on TheLines website, DeSantis currently has +225 odds, which is the lowest across all other candidates. Following closely behind DeSantis is former President Donald Trump, who has +300 odds. The odds indicate that as of Tuesday, November 15, a person betting $100 on Trump to become the next president would receive a payout of $400, which includes the $100 they initially bet.

President Joe Biden is the third candidate listed, with +400 odds, while Vice President Kamala Harris currently has +1200 odds.

Trump is expected to make an announcement that he will run for office again in 2024 on Tuesday.

While betting odds show DeSantis leading Trump, a recent poll conducted by Morning Consult/Politico found the former president holding a slight advantage over the Florida governor. Among Republican voters, 47 percent sided with Trump for the 2024 presidency while 33 percent chose DeSantis.

Trump-Endorsed Laxalt Concedes to Masto in NV Senate Race

Republican Adam Laxalt said Tuesday that he conceded to incumbent Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto in Nevada's Senate race.

In a statement Laxalt shared on Twitter, he said he called Masto Tuesday morning "to congratulate her on her win."

Laxalt's statement said he jumped into the race on behalf of people "who believe our country is headed in the wrong direction."

"This race and the 2022 election didn't go as we hoped, but I am proud of the race we ran," he said.

Laxalt then said there is a need to "better adjust to our new election laws" or "fix" those laws, but he added that he is "confident that any challenge of this election would not alter the ultimate outcome."

State election results showed Masto with 48.83 percent of the vote as of Tuesday morning, while Laxalt had 48.04 percent.

Laxalt and Masto were in a tight race heading into Election Day. Masto was running for her second term in office against Laxalt, who previously served as Nevada's attorney general.

As election workers counted ballots in the days following the election, control over the U.S. Senate was uncertain with Senate races in Nevada and Arizona both too close to call. Over the weekend, several major news networks called the Nevada race for Masto, giving Democrats control over the Senate after Arizona's Senate race was also called for the incumbent Democrat.

In the Nevada race, former President Donald Trump endorsed Laxalt in August 2021. Laxalt's loss is one of several experienced by Trump-backed Republican candidates this election cycle.

Jan 6. Panel Says Trump Never Appeared for Deposition

The panel investigating the January 6 riots at the Capitol said on Monday that former President Donald Trump never appeared for his deposition.

"Former President Trump has failed to comply with the Select Committee's subpoena requiring him to appear for a deposition today. Even though the former President initially suggested that he would testify before the committee, he has since filed a lawsuit asking the courts to protect him from giving testimony," January 6 Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson and Vice Chair Liz Cheney said in a statement.

"Donald Trump orchestrated a scheme to overturn a presidential election and block the transfer of power. He is obligated to provide answers to the American people. In the days ahead, the committee will evaluate next steps in the litigation and regarding the former President's noncompliance," the statement added.

The announcement by the January 6 Panel comes just ahead of an announcement by Trump, where he is expected to say he will run for president again in 2024.

According to Scott McFarlane of CBS News, Democratic Representative Peter Aguilar also spoke about Trump failing to appear for the deposition and said the former president "clearly made a decision to snub us."

Trump's 2024 Polling Lead Over DeSantis Narrows

Polls gauging voter support about a hypothetical 2024 Republican presidential primary race between former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis show support for Trump has dropped slightly and support for DeSantis has increased since last week's midterm elections.

According to a new poll by Morning Consult and Politico, 47 percent of GOP voters said they would vote for Trump if the 2024 primary election were held today, compared with 33 percent who said they would vote for DeSantis. All other hypothetical candidates were far behind Trump and DeSantis, with former Vice President Mike Pence coming in as voters' third choice, with 5 percent of respondents saying they would vote for him.

The poll was conducted in the days after the midterms from November 10 to 14. An earlier Morning Consult poll conducted in the days before the midterms—from November 2 to 7—showed 48 percent of voters said they would vote for Trump and 26 percent said they would back DeSantis.

Morning Consult polls conducted in August suggested there was much less voter support for a potential 2024 run by DeSantis, with a nearly 40 percent gap between voters who said they would support Trump and those who said they would vote for DeSantis.

Though Trump remains the frontrunner in a hypothetical 2024 matchup, a majority of GOP voters said they do not think he should run for office. According to the latest Morning Consult poll, 53 percent of GOP respondents said they think Trump should "definitely not" run for another term in the White House in 2024, and 12 percent said he should "probably not" run.

Trump-Endorsed Kari Lake Loses AZ Governor Race

Kari Lake, who was previously endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has lost the race for governor in Arizona, according to the Associated Press.

The AP called the race for Democrat Katie Hobbs who received 50.4 percent of votes compared to Lake, who received 49.6 percent.

"Arizonans know BS when they see it," Lake said in a tweet on Monday night. Lake was previously endorsed by Trump and echoed Trump's past claims that the 2020 election was stolen.

Trump also responded to the race results in a post to his TruthSocial account, where he said, "Wow! They just took the election away from Kari Lake. It's really bad out there!"

In a separate post, Trump said, "I assume everyone is watching Arizona as the great Kari Lake's easy election win is slowly, yet systematically, being drained away from her, and from the American people."

Last week, Lake spoke about the voting in Arizona and said, "We need honest elections and we're going to bring them to you, Arizona, I assure you of that. The system we have right now does not work."

Trump Expected To Announce 2024 Bid Tonight

Former President Donald Trump is expected to announce that he is running for president again in 2024 on Tuesday night.

Earlier this month, Trump teased an announcement that he was planning to make at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

"I'm going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, November 15, at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida," Trump said at a rally in Dayton, Ohio this month.

On Tuesday morning, Trump posted a message on his TruthSocial account further teasing an announcement.

"Hopefully TODAY will turn out to be one of the most important days in the history of our Country!" the former president wrote.

Jason Miller, a former adviser to Trump's campaign in 2020, recently appeared on Steve Bannon's War Room podcast where he said, "President Trump is going to announce on Tuesday that he's running for president."
