Two people were found dead on campus at University of California (UC) Irvine on Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.
UCI's Office of the Chancellor reported the incident, saying that the two victims have not yet been identified and it's not yet known what happened to them, but "preliminary information" suggests the possibility that "at least one death occurred at the hands of another."
The University of California, Irvine Police Department (UCIPD) responded to an incident at 214 Pereira Drive, Social Science Plaza, at around 3:52 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving calls about people "on the ground outside a multi-story building," FOX 11 reported.
When they arrived, they found the bodies of a man and woman at the bottom of Social Science Plaza, Building B, according to an IPD press release. A UCI spokesperson told FOX 11 that one of the victims was a former student.

As of Tuesday night, it was not yet known if the woman was in any way affiliated with the university.
The two deaths are being investigated by the Irvine Police Department (IPD), which informed the university that there's no ongoing danger to the college community. Detectives believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide and that the two victims might be related, according to the IPD press release. Their names are not being released pending notification of next of kin.
