Bringing home a pet is one of the most exciting experiences for people, but when thinking about the moment from the perspective of a dog or puppy, it could be scary and nerve-wracking.
These fur babies are in an unfamiliar place with new surroundings and new people after leaving their mother and other puppy siblings. They will need time and patience as they adjust during this period.
But once your new dog gets comfortable and shows they trust you, your heart will never be the same, as one TikTok user shared on November 13.
Becca, who wishes to not disclose her full name, and her husband welcomed home a vizsla puppy named Archie in 2021. The video she shared reflects on the moment Archie finally got comfortable in his new home.

Archie fell asleep as Becca was holding him in her arms. It was at this moment she realized she was a mom. And yes, dog moms are moms too!
"And nothing was ever the same," the caption reads.
"I feel so honored when my dog lets me hold her. It's amazing to think that these animals choose to trust us when they really could eat us," commented a TikTok user.
Another person added: "The best feeling."
Newsweek reached out to Becca via phone for comment on Tuesday.
Ways to Help Puppies Adjust
Some pups might ease into their new home, soaking in all the undivided attention, while others might be scared and nervous. The best plan of action is to take it slow and steady.
The American Kennel Club recommends having the new dog explore the new home little by little. Letting them roam around the entire house might be a sensory overload. Introduce new rooms one at a time. And if there are any places off-limit, be sure to skip it.
Other tips to help your puppy adjust in a new home include selecting a potty spot and staying consistent with that spot, providing safe puppy chew toys, dedicating a sleeping space and introducing them to family members one at a time.
It's also never too early to set up house rules. The AKC says the more structured and consistent a puppy's day is, the better adjusted and happier they'll be. And always, always be sure to watch over your pup.
