Police in Atlanta said that a woman was shot and killed following a dispute over a bowling ball on Thursday night.
According to a statement from the Atlanta Police Department about the incident, officers responded to the Metro Fun Center just before 11 p.m. and found a woman dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
"Preliminary information indicates that the incident began with a dispute over a bowling ball which escalated to gunfire. The investigation is continuing," the police statement said.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as LaKevia Jackson, 31, WSB-TV reported Friday. According to CBS46, Jackson had a child with Atlanta rapper Young Thug, whose name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams. The news station reported the pair met while Jackson was in high school and before Williams became famous.
"This is truly an atrocity. A young woman has lost her life tonight as a result of an argument over a bowling ball," Atlanta Police Lieutenant Ralph Woolfolk said according to WSB-TV.
Police say they have taken one suspect into custody following the shooting, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, but have yet to identify the individual.
In its statement, the Atlanta Police Department said the information it has reached is "preliminary" and "may change as the investigation progresses."
CBS46 spoke with Jackson's mother, Sherina Jackson, who said her daughter had attended a birthday party and seemed to be leaving when she was killed.
"I didn't know that was going to be the last time I talked to my baby," she told CBS46. "I could hear her over the phone crying and screaming, then her best friend said she's not breathing!"
In a separate incident in California in February, an 18-year-old was fatally shot outside of a bowling alley. The Fresno Police Department said that the shooting occurred after "a physical altercation" began inside the bowling alley.

"The conflict continued outside of the establishment, where the shooting took place," the department wrote on Facebook. It said it believed that the shooting was an "isolated incident" and "gang-related."
In another shooting in California in 2019, three men were killed and four were injured at a bowling alley in Torrance. One witness told the Associated Press at the time that he heard 15 shots, which occurred after he saw a "huge fight" break out.
Another witness told the Los Angeles Times: "All we heard was just, like two people got shot. We heard there was a big fight before that. We just ran into the bar and we just took cover because after the fight we heard 'pop! pop!'"
