While swiping through Bumble, a woman named happened upon the presumed profile of former Bachelor Peter Weber.
She later posted a screen recording of Weber's alleged profile to her TikTok page (@estoriethegirl), where it has earned more than 980,000 views and over 57,000 likes. Additionally, hundreds of viewers took to the post's comments section to debate the profile's authenticity, suggesting that many online daters are concerned about catfishing.
Weber, otherwise known as Pilot Pete, was the second runner-up on Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette, and later starred in season 24 of The Bachelor. Though his season ended in an engagement to contestant Hannah Ann Sluss, the two called it quits before the season's finale aired.
He later went on to date Kelly Flanagan—another of his contestants—but the two broke up in December 2020. Now, it appears he's looking for love on Bumble.
"I love seeing where life takes me," read the bio section of Weber's purported profile. "[I] live for the adventure."
Under interests, the commercial pilot listed football, concerts, dogs, exploring new cities and ambition. He also claimed that he is 6'3", holds a bachelor's degree and that he's a Leo.
"I will never shut up about my dog Tripp," he added.
Considering that around 10 percent of all online profiles are fake, some commenters were understandably skeptical of the profile.
"There's no way this is real," wrote Grace Kennedy.
"HAHAHAHAHA THIS IS NOT REAL (is it?), asked cs4894.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the profile was verified, which means the profile could very well belong to Weber.
To verify an account, a user must first click the "Edit Profile" button and then tap "Verify Your Account," instructed The Buzz, Bumble's official blog.
Next, "you'll be prompted with an example of one of a hundred random photo poses by Bumble," The Buzz said. "Take a selfie mimicking that pose and send it to the Bumble photo moderation team using the simple step-by-step verification process outlined in the app."
The photo will then be reviewed by a "real person" who will either confirm or reject verification.
"Don't worry if you make a mistake or your verification doesn't go through on the first try—you'll be able to try the process again until you're verified," The Buzz promised.
Commenting on Estorie's now-viral video, Bumble's official TikTok account called Weber's profile a "10/10."
Meanwhile, the official OLIPOP account added: "Stars, they're just like us."
