It may be hard not to say "ouch" when watching this video of a makeup artist sharing her eyebrow routine.
Avani Reyes, 23, has revealed the moment she completely removes the hair from above her eyes using hot wax. She explains why, in a video that has racked up 41.2 million views on TikTok.
Using the handle @avanireyes, the makeup artist smoothers her entire eyebrow with the sticky substance.
Reyes says: "I don't like the way my eyebrows grow," because they are "bushy and dark."

While shaving them off may be less hassle, Reyes opts against this method as her brows would grow back "faster." Whereas waxing has long-lasting results.
She then pulls off the wax strip and shows the hair attached to it to the camera. The area surrounding her brow is red but she insists "it doesn't hurt," while lathering on more wax.
"I know I look crazy but I am going to show you what I do after," she says.
After pulling off the left eyebrow, she repeats, "it really doesn't hurt that bad."
Then to achieve the "most perfect brow" for just $4-$5, she sticks on temporary eyebrow tattoos from Amazon. Reyes praises them for lasting all day and being waterproof.
She then picks the desired shape before pressing the paper to her face and wetting it with warm water so the tattoo sticks onto her skin.
She ends by stating: "That's my eyebrow routine."
Newsweek discussed the video, which has 1.7 million likes, with Dr. Hamdan Abdullah Hamed, a U.S. board-certified dermatologist based in the Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates.
"There are many risks in removing eyebrows," the co-founder of PowerYourCurls.com said. "For example, it can damage hair follicles. The process may also cause discomfort on the skin. If you're also not careful, removing them can also create scars or open wounds, which can cause infections."
"Meanwhile, if you shave your eyebrows without proper products and
aftercare solutions, there is also risk of razor bumps.
"Razor bumps are small, red, itchy, and painful bumps that form around hair follicles. They are caused when hair curls and grows back into the skin, which can
lead to inflammation and irritation."
Hamed also pointed out that repeatedly tweezing or waxing can cause bald spots.
Judging by the comments, the internet has been left in complete and utter shock.
One user said: "[Your] real eyebrows could give u the same look."
"But you have such amazing brows. You could just shape them to your liking," said another person.
A third commenter said: "This is wild."
"I think this is the first time I've ever been left truly speechless from a video," said a fourth commenter.
Newsweek contacted Avani Reyes for comment.
