How to Transfer Cyberpunk 2077 Stadia Saves to PC

Google Stadia is dead. Google is shutting down its cloud-gaming service in January of 2023. But, before it shuts everything down, gamers using the service need to find a way to move over their saved game files. While some games, like Destiny 2 have made this easy thanks to built-in cross-progression, other games like Cyberpunk 2077 require a manual transfer of the save file to move it over to another version of the game.

If you're looking to save your Cyberpunk 2077 save file––and who wouldn't with the latest updates and expansion announcements bringing so much life back to the game–– from Google Stadia, then you can follow a step-by-step guide released by the developers to back up your save file and move it over to the PC version of the game.

CD Projekt Red released the guide earlier this week. Though Google says it isn't shutting down Stadia until 2023, there's no guarantee that games like Cyberpunk 2077 won't be removed from the platform before then. As such, gamers should go ahead and transfer their save files over as soon as possible to avoid any loss of data.

With that in mind, let's go over the steps you need to take to move your save file over from Stadia to the PC version of the game. Fortunately, after moving it to the PC, you can enable cross-progression and transfer that save file to the console of your choice.

How To Transfer

  • First, you'll need to head to Google Takeout and create a new export. Make sure to choose "Deselect all" and then select "Stadia" before choosing "Next step."
  • From there, choose your preferred location to save the file and select the "Export once" option. CD Projekt Red recommends saving the file as a .zip and using the "2 GB" size option before clicking "Create Export."
  • Once the file exports, locate the archive on your PC and extract it to another folder. You'll find the saved game files for Cyberpunk 2077 at .../Takeout/Stadia/GAMING/GAME_SAVE. CD Projekt Red also notes that other save game files may be in here as well. Each save file that you've made in Cyberpunk 2077 will be available in different archives, so you'll need to extract them to separate folders.
  • To add the save file to a PC version of the game, locate the following path: %userprofile%Saved GamesCD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077 and drop the files into the folder. They should now be useable in the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077.
  • To enable cross-progression, you'll need to sync the game with your GOG account and then follow the steps outlined in CD Projekt Red's original details to enable cross-progression.
