Dead to Me Season 3 may not have been officially ordered yet by Netflix, but that does not mean its creator has not started to think about what the next set of episodes could look like. Forbes reported that Liz Feldman is "cautiously optimistic" that the show, which is topping Netflix charts across the world, will get renewed and that Jen (played by Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) will be back. She has also hinted at a number of the things that could happen in another season of the series.
Everything Liz Feldman has said about Dead to Me Season 3
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the current season of Dead to Me
She already knows what will happen in Season 3
Speaking to Refinery29, the showrunner said that she has already started thinking about the next season, and hinted that it will follow directly on from the ending of the current season, which saw some of the cast involved in a car accident.
She said: "I do think there's some more story to tell. I know exactly what I would want to do for the third season... Especially now that you know how Season 2 ends. Now there's somebody else with a secret."
That someone is Ben (James Marsden), who caused the accident while driving under the influence. This suggests that Marsden will be back in Season 3.

A possible Married With Children reunion
Marsden is not the only cast member expected to return for Season 3. The current season introduced Katey Sagal as the mother of Judy, but the actor is best known for playing the mother of fellow Dead to Me star Christina Applegate in Married With Children.
Asked by TVLine whether the pair would be reunited in Season 3, Feldman teased: "At the very least I want to give you hope."
One cast member may not be returning
One reason why Feldman is being coy might be because Jen's fate hangs in the balance after the accident. Though at the end of Season 2 we see her talking, Feldman has hinted that all might not be well with her. Asked whether this meant Jen was OK by The Hollywood Reporter, she said: "I don't know that it means that."
Other hints from Season 3
This THR interview includes a number of other hints about what will happen in Season 3. For example, asked what Charlie's (Sam McCarthy) discovery of his mother's letter means, Feldman said: "He's found Judy's letter and Jen has definitely revealed things in that letter that Charlie does not know and we'll have to see what he does with that information."
Asked whether the discovery of Judy's ex-fiance's body will be a plot point in Season 3, she said: "Maybe. Is that coy enough for you?"
It will not be a long-running show
Though the show may be coming back for Season 3, fans should not expect it to be around for many more years. Feldman told the THR podcast: "I'm going to end this story and I'm going to close out these characters in a satisfying way. I don't see this show as a six or seven season show."
Dead to Me Season 2 is streaming now on Netflix.
