DeSantis Voter Defaces Picture of Governor For Not Backing Trump 2024 Bid

One of Governor Ron DeSantis's supporters sent a warning to the Florida Republican about launching a presidential bid for 2024, spray painting over a mural of DeSantis on his trailer while urging the governor to endorse former President Donald Trump.

In a video posted online Tuesday, rapper Forgiato Blow—whose real name is Kurt Jantz and who describes himself as the "Mayor of MAGAville"— is seen hopping out of a truck wrapped in an image of Trump that is towing a trailer with a mural of DeSantis that reads "Make America Florida."

"There [are] some unhappy MAGA Republicans out here today," Jantz begins. "I'm hopping out the Trump truck. You know, I got a lot of love for my boy DeSantis. I drove this around, supported him through midterms."

"But, I see he got some donation money from some people I don't really like—the Lincoln Project, they're giving some money out. It seems like he's gonna make a run for 2024," he continues.

The Lincoln Project, a political action committee founded by some of the most prominent Republicans against Trump, sought to prevent the re-election of Trump in 2020.

As Jantz begins spray panting over the picture of DeSantis' face, he says that until DeSantis publicly backs Trump, "we're taking this off the truck, completely off the truck."

He then sent the governor a message directly, saying, "You need to go ahead and endorse Donald Trump for 2024, president. And you get your turn in 2028, my boy."

In an interview with Newsweek, Jantz said he believes it's important for DeSantis to publicly support a second Trump term because of the political opportunity Trump gave DeSantis back in 2018 when he endorsed him for the governor of Florida.

"Why is it taking so long for you to say you're backing Trump?" Jantz said of DeSantis.

Amid heavy speculation and Trump's own formal announcement, DeSantis has remained quiet about launching a bid for the presidency in 2024. As the only clear Republican win amid an otherwise lackluster GOP showing in the midterms, many conservatives have embraced DeSantis for his decisive 2022 victory and encouraged him to run against Trump.

Early polling also shows that Republican voters—even those who have long been supporters of Trump—are more likely to support DeSantis in a presidential bid than the former president. A survey released Tuesday found that a growing number of Fox News viewers want the governor to be the 2024 Republican nominee.

Jantz told Newsweek that he thinks the governor's silence on 2024—either on his own bid or support for Trump's—is "leaving lines for people to think that there's some type of drama or some type of issue."

"Sometimes, the unsaid and the unknown is the most dangerous," he said. "And it's like [DeSantis] is using that to seed off, to get a little more buzz and to get a little more talk."

"What's better for us is to have Trump for 2024 and then DeSantis for the next eight years," he added. "By [DeSantis] putting his name in the hat, it's just gonna secure a Joe Biden win because he's going to split the votes."

Jantz also said that he voted for DeSantis as governor of Florida and thus wanted to see him carry out his next term, rather than leaving to campaign for president.

His video was seemingly well-received by other Trump supporters who agreed that DeSantis should publicly endorse Trump.

"If DeSantis doesn't denounce RINOs/ GOP members who want him to run for president, he's definitely not MAGA/AF," one Twitter user wrote. "Just another opportunist/puppet for the Swamp. Traitors will not fix the corruption or the destruction Dems have caused."

"Right on! There's a lot of sketchy swampers coming out for a run and I respect him I think he's done a great job in Florida, but we don't need no more deep state," another tweeted.

Newsweek reached out to DeSantis for comment.
